Fun - not accepted in wow

Must rush to 60. When you get to 60 must pay GDKP and rush AV battlegrounds. What’s wrong with you kids?

You can thank the cringey gdkp boosting man children for this. 100% the reason cata classic is in its current state, and it was ruined before wrath even hit.

Actual adults that cant play a game to have fun, but can only play if they are being paid in some way. Cant “waste their time” even though theyre literally playing WoW. So weird to act like this and still play the game.

Imagine hating 95% of a game so much that you have other people do it for you, and you play the other 5%. Blows my mind

“Mooooom he’s playing the game different than me waaaaaah”

This is what you sound like.

This bait would work better if there were gdkp’s to do at 60

Sadly it’s not just wow. In games like COD and Marvel rivals all people do is pick the best stuff and play the game so they can own more noobs. It’s Pathetic and makes me want to go back to single person games.

Blizz really is responsible for this. They catered to the min/max, sweaty, tryhard mentality even before Classic launched.

When they used 1.12 AV instead of an earlier version. And particularly their stated reasoning: that earlier AV was too difficult, the mobs were too powerful and too plentiful.
Immediately they’re sending the message that it’s not about the experience. It’s about efficiency. They wanted the same mindless zerg that AV has had for the past decade at the time.

I remember them rushing out Dire Maul early. Earlier than it was supposed to be. Why? Because the 1% rushed to 60 and whined for it. So ignoring the vast majority of players they sped up the process. Once again they’re sending the message: it’s not about the journey. It’s about rushing through content as quickly as possible. And they catered to that behavior. Players pick up on these cues from the devs.

This is how you create a playerbase that has no value in the experience. Who min/max everything and suck the fun out of the game.

Blizz continued with this kind of design throughout Classic and then TBC. Hello boosts!!! There was even a Blue post where they said the game doesnt’ start until 60. Imagine being in charge of Classic and negating what made Classic so unique and different from the modern game: it’s emphasis on the journey. On appreciating the moment. On investing in your character. That’s why players were committed and had a connection. Immediately gone. Opened the floodgates to the most toxic, tryhard, sweaty players who just bought their way past 90% of the game. And in they came.

And GDKPs really took over the game. That loot style is tailor made for those kind of whales. Swipe, swipe, swipe. Guilds fall apart. Players don’t need to earn anything. That’s silly. Just buy it. :+1:

So now you’ve got a playerbase who’ve been taught

  1. The journey means nothing.
  2. They can swipe and buy their way to prosperity, and Blizz supports this.
  3. The experience is irrelevant. It’s all about efficiency and time management.
  4. FUN has no significance. This isn’t a game anymore. It’s an interactive calculator.

It’s no wonder the playerbase is what it is. Blizz attracted these monsters with their design decisions, and they trained the playerbase as a whole how they’re supposed to approach the game. What they should value. So here we are.

These players don’t like the game and look for any way to avoid playing. They’ll swipe and buy whatever they need to so they don’t have to farm it themselves. They’re begging for the Token to eliminate whatever small risk might come from swiping. They whine when pvp breaks out in a bg. They boot people from dungeons over anything and everything.

Classic is a disaster and the Classic team is to blame. They could have attracted a very different type of player had they made different decisions. They could have trained the players in a different way how to approach the game. It can be done. You just need to understand human nature a bit. And these ‘devs’ are clueless in that capacity. In any event, it’s truly sad how bad they’ve screwed up Classic. And the playerbase is a reflection of that.

This is true, the funny part is after already doing that I realized that there’s literally no point.

The whole point of WoW is to have fun on your journey while playing it.

Once you get to the end, and you have full BIS you realize “wow, this isn’t as fun as I thought it was”

There’s really nothing to do with your gear, do you run the same raids you already grinded for months to get full BIS? Boring.

Or do you try to PvP with your new awesome gear, only to find that noone PvP’s in the world anymore, and anyone in BG’s is just afk grinding honor.

The secret of WoW is that there is no reward at the end, there is no carrot at the end of the stick, the fun part is just in the experiences you have while chasing it.

Enjoy the ride, because if you don’t you’ll realize at the end all you did was waste your time.

You’re all very true about these things, the important part however is that as long as you can have fun doing things the way you want thats all that matters
I’m not particularly bothered by the community being so fun-drainingly efficient, its not my problem because I’m having fun doing the things I’m doing

You’re on Whitemane, there is no rush at all whatsoever.

Also we only AV on AV weekend and the whole Zugrush Van or ban nonsense is not a thing on Era.

Back in original Wrath we did GDKPs. No one hated on it back then that I remember.

They were definitely hated on back then. People just thought they were gold carries with extra steps. Which they pretty much are.

Back in original Wrath

Then go play wrath

-imagine if 2 people have Ice cream cone
1st person licking it, taking small bits, enjoying it melting in mouth, definitely took the time to feel the taste of it.
2nd person just swallow the whole cone in 1 go then started to yell "i did eat the cone faster than the 1st person, i’m efficient.

-2nd person did not feel any satisfaction and so 2nd person started to record himself swallowing more cones to upload those logs/videos to brag about it and seek attentions from similar mindless people who got convinced that this is the best way to eat ice cream claiming that “we value our time and we need to save it” said by people playing video games

-now the type of first person is hardly finding any ice-creams because the type of 2nd person did swallow all the cones everywhere in competitions.

  • and now almost all shops wants to benefit from this madness so they replaced the milk with water to make it harder to swallow and started to only sell ice cream cone under condition of “buy many! u can’t just buy 1, and eat them all it in front of our store, eat them fast” if u can’t do that? then you are not allowed to taste our products.

after some time people started to wonder what the hell happened, why no one want to go near any ice-cream stores except those maniacs!
visitors to ice cream store dropped down from 12 million to less than half a million.

they don’t understand difference between earning energy and relaxation energy.

They will make perfect factory workers. Always go-go-go-go-go. Will make a manager so happy!

i really hate levelling. I am going to spend real world money to have to not level.

ive been told im not allowed to play anything but the best spec so i am going to ctrl C + ctrl V the spec, abilities, gear choices and macros of another person because the internet told me its the best, thus removing the need for me to make decisions or choices based on personal preference or my own enjoyment

gearing up sucks. I am going to pay real world money to buy BoE epics and blues in every slot

and now i am going to pay real world money to get raid gear

man im so bored playing this game nothing i do in it is ever fun or feels different in any way.

im not gonna play anymore until the next fresh when ill restart the same cycle again

Thats you and everyone like you and has been for 6 years now.

Lorithas is right.

Classic WoW was the next best MMORPG after EverQuest.

These games are MMORPGs. Massive Multiplayer Online ROLE PLAYING GAMES.

It’s not supposed to be a rush to end-game, min-maxing, parsing BS that it’s become.

Gold swiping, AFK in AV, raid-logging, elitism, this-spec only, the list can go on.

It was designed to be a freaking role playing game that had up to 2,000 people on the same server able to play with each other, if even that.

There were no mega servers, there was no gold buying or gold farming bots. There was no parsing. There was PvP in battlegrounds. People didn’t gatekeep raids based on pre-BiS or not.

The playerbase has destroyed the integrity and the core of World of Warcraft.

You’re better off playing on private servers or going back to EverQuest if you want a sense of community-based, fun-driven, friendly to new players MMORPG experience.

Two games currently in development, Patheon: Rise of the Fallen and Monsters & Memories, are looking backwards and basing their gamestyle off of EverQuest for the sole reason MMORPGs have lost their soul and become a shell of what they once were.

Zoomers really believe this

Botting was so bad in vanilla Blizzard had to take legal action
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MDY_Industries,_LLC_v._Blizzard_Entertainment,_Inc.
Ironically this and the action against Bossland created the current bot situation.

That’s also what you guys sound like in AV.

To say that botting was just as bad then, as it is now, is 100% false.

Was there botting or gold buying? sure, some. But a vast amount less than there is now it’s not even close. There were also much harsher penalties back then, and your link is one perfect example.

How come there’s no lawsuits today? And the general defense by gold buyers/botters/blizzard/gold seller supporters is usually

“well it’s not worth it to try to stop them so we should just let them do it”
“buying gold is how I enjoy the game, just let me play how I want!!!”
“how does it affect you if I cheat???”

Today it’s completely normalized and even supported that tons of players constantly defend buying gold as if it’s normal and saying stupid rationalizations for it like.

All of that is just a side effect of the culture of the playerbase that’s left generally having the attitude of:

“playing the game is a waste of time, paying to win is the most efficient way to play, and everyone else is bad”
