Fun detected!

Were you having fun? Actually collecting champion tier gear while also having a bit of fun making groups meeting new people and experiencing the game in a fun way during a new event? Well too bad now, now you only get one piece of gear every maybe four or five rares, it’s usually the same piece you just got from the last one. So now you have three belts, one pair of bracers, and a ring. You have officially just spent 3 hours of your time accomplishing nothing besides getting 30 to 40 more tokens that you can’t transfer from one character to another suddenly. Literally overnight. They detected the fun, and shut it down. Basically cutting the rewards in half. This doesn’t make people stay around, this makes people not want to participate in the event at all. It was that quick, I went from being able to have a group at every single rare, to suddenly half the rares nobody’s even there. And I certainly can’t solo this stuff LOL.

Just change it back. If you can hotfix it with a snap of a finger, you cannot fix it to actually fix it in the snap of a finger.

No joke. Just yesterday I went and killed maybe 10 of the rares and came back with 10 pieces of gear and 80 tokens, not including the quests.
I come back today on my druid, and now only 1/3 rares actually has a piece of gear, and they got less than 30 tokens. Same amount of work, a fraction of the results.

I totally get it LOL, I was just really excited because this expansion I was going to come and make one character of every armor class instead of one character of all classes, and I was planning to get some of them geared up appropriately using this ketchup gear and now it might take the whole rest of the event to get that done. Absolutely insane.

I’m under the assumption that when something broke last night, there was some sort of rollback to a previous build that borked some things.

Not that I’m touching the event anyway… I have zero desire to deal with any of it.

But I’m hoping that for others that actually care, Blizz fixes it.

I’m still having fun.

In 1 month all that gear will be replaced anyway so who cares

There’s really not much of a difference between low-mid tier gear at max level for the purposes of leveling.

Everything dies in 3 seconds anyways.

“Prepping” with 10 hours of gear farming to get to max level marginally quicker just to sit there doing nothing until content unlocks isn’t the advantage it once was.

Personally i just want the cosmetics and mount and pet, i just hope i can earn enough by march to at least get most.

I wish people would realize this, and relax before the next expansion instead of thinking they can (and MUST) prepare.

The only prep that I see as necessary is to make sure your UIs are all set up the way you want on your characters.

But yeah, gear isn’t going to make much of a difference haha

That’s literally the weakest argument that gets used every time. Stop making excuses for blizzard taking away fun things, stop making excuses for bugs and glitches and actually make them fix the game, AKA just hold them accountable and make them do their damn jobs.

Their job is to make the experience fun for everybody involved, and so far all I see are people complaining about the event because blizzard just keeps taking everything out of it. That makes it exciting.

I’m still having a bit of fun, but that fun keeps quickly waning.

With your logic, this game would be an absolutely busted and broken and unplayable mess because they would never fix anything because," well it’s just going to all change in the next expansion, so why fix anything?"

I’m having a very different experience, 4 different pieces of gear from 4 rares, back to back. RNG can be cruel sometimes

Always with the dismissive anecdotal experiences, completely ignoring the hundreds if not thousands of other people saying the same thing that I am.

They literally came in last night to hot fix the event, you can’t get any more anti-fun than that.

I’m still having fun, and I’ll be hard-pressed to stop having fun.

There is more to do in this game than could be done in anyone’s lifetime. The breadth and depth mean there is always something new to explore.

A sound argument could be made that other pre-patch events did it better, but these are always meant to be fleeting experiences.

I’ll also say this as someone who recently returned from a ~5-year hiatus:

Taking a break is okay, and can even be good. I came back to a completely different, much more enjoyable game.

Yeah, that’s the big one. Comfortable ui and not entirely unfamiliar with new talents.

The odd thing, which probably says a lot about me, is that the most fun part of this event is the group zero to the rare bosses. Most people are sitting up on the rock in the middle of the zone and when a rare pops everyone flies over and takes them down.

General chat has been pretty active on my server group, Alliance seems to be little more chatty.

Doing the intro quests has been cool too. Since the mob tags are shared people have been pulling them to each other to help get the quests completed. Horde and Alliance players have been cooperating pretty well.

I went out there and did the first half of the first quest…and left. its absolutely pointless to do this side stuff at all…the only gear that matters in the entire game come from mythic dungeons and heroic and mythic raids…literally every single other piece of equipment in this game is sub standard…the only reason to do the side stuff is if you actually enjoy doing it. if you dont…then you arent missing anything by not doing it.

That works for both arguments though? If it doesn’t matter, why the feet dragging on letting people gear up alts?

If you just want the things from the quartermaster (mount, pet, toys, cosmetic set from Cata) you can do it just by doing the weeklies in like, two weeks.

If you want all the dornogal recolors, faster to get those on lower level alts.
