Fullscreen support?

Didn’t classic have fullscreen support? I tried looking into the display setting and noticed that they only have windowed and windowed fullscreen options. I have been playing the stress test for a while now and trying to use blizzards windowed fullscreen is driving me crazy and the regular windowed setting is almost just as bad.

I am really just curious didn’t classic have some form of full screen support?

Vanilla did have ‘full screen support’ but primarily that was a method used on single monitors. Windowed (Fullscreen) should give you what you’re looking for to fill a single monitor.

What is the element that’s “driving you crazy” about Windowed (Fullscreen)?

Every time I try turning it on it ends up hiding ui elements underneath my taskbar.

Hmm, that sounds like a windows configuration issue. The taskbar disappears for me every time, and I have to hit keyboard Start to bring it up.

Restarting your computer sometimes helps.

This helped me fix the ui issue, many thanks.

Not sure what was going on with the ui myself but at least is looks normal now.

Would be nice if we they were to add that into the game, the windows version is almost just as good now but fullscreen is still far nicer when it comes down to just playing the game without interruptions.

No problem, my dude.

The reasoning behind it is that in Fullscreen, it takes over all monitors, not just the current one. So you have to manually alt tab to interact with something on the other screen.

I would imagine for the average player that was seen as a pointless annoyance, and their metrics over the last 15 years showed no-one using Full Screen any more.

I think these days, windowed fullscreen also helps to improve performance too.

It does only if you play in Windowed mode. Fullscreen Windowed, forces most comps to Render more, not less.

Strange… doesn’t seem to bother my comp. My comp actually flashes its red light more if I’m in complete fullscreen on a new game.

Yeah that’s how I remember it. The other screen would go completely black and only the game is rendered.

I think it has to do with DX12. All games I’ve played that support DX12 don’t have the old full screen option and wow 8.x has DX12 compatibility. So that could be why it’s out now.

I didn’t have that issue playing on a single monitor-- I’ve not ever needed to have two Monitors running at one time.

You should see some change in FPS. It might not be huge and it will depend on how Small the windowed Mode window actually is.

I found from FullScreen Windowed Mode compared to a smaller Windowed Mode-- nearly 30FPS difference.

Also will depend on your hardware.

My games run a LOT smoother in windowed fullscreen.

If you have multiple monitors it can get a little crazy if you move your mouse too fast and it ends up in a different monitor. Other than that it’s exactly the same for all intents and purposes.

I dunno then. No comp I currently have are rendering Less and doing Worse than rendering More.

Like I said, Hardware is always a factor.

this is one of my other gripes, if you want to get competitive it can be a bit harder without fullscreen support.

Wish I could help you but I’m no tech savant. I literally bought this machine at Best Buy because I couldn’t trust myself to build one without screwing it up.

No worries, my Waffle Iron gets it done when I feel like playing. :rainbow:
