After playing classic this just doesn’t feel right, I understand why its there, power shifting is too strong, but surely there’s a better alternative. Maybe a short cd on forms, or make it half, but currently its really not enjoyable and just feels so off. Previous played a survival hunter and it feels so much smoother weaving it and out of fights.
Shifting feels awful. They get a whole global to react when i need to pop bear regen etc… having instant shift abilities (tf and dash) (thats’s it btw). Is rlly bad. I get they prob dont want us to mash shifts like mop n stuff but this feels like garbage
Yeah, I would like to weave more as a guardian.
At this point the shapeshifting issues we have are clunky holdovers from vanilla.
“Cannot use in shapeshift form” when you click quest stuff. Engineering belts and devices dropping my bear form, thus making them largely unusable when tanking, etc.
This is something that holds me back from playing a druid tbh, I wish there was another way to get around how strong “power shifting” was/is. Like maybe just a GCD on the second shift within a gcd.
Ghost wolf feels better to me on my ele.
Idk how awkward it would be but if it was off GCD but all forms instead shared a 3s cd.
Would definitely make dps’ing as resto WORLDS better that’s for sure. Spending a precious GCD to context switch is really bad a lot of times and isn’t worth sometimes.
Stampeding Roar = instant bear
(Tigers) Dash = instant kitty
Any heal/moonfire = instant caster
I don’t think there’s anything we can do about instant popping into Boomie sadly.
There’s moves to be had, but they’re tied to utility, so it’s no longer “power” shifting and instead “utility” shifting which is very situational.
I mean it’s got more uses in PvP than PvE but the issue is still there.
Edit: going to take this a step further:
No GCD incurred, but you can only “power” shift into one form and back to your original once every 4 seconds.
So if I’m Feral, I can shift into Bear, and for the next 4 seconds, the only power shifting I can do is to go back into Feral without triggering the GCD.
After 4 seconds, the other forms become available to get into without incurring GCD.
So I can go Feral, Bear, Feral if I wanted. But if I wanted to go Feral —> Bear —> Caster (for heals for instance), it would take 4 seconds before being able to do so once I entered Bear form.
Would apply to forms of course.
So if I were Boomkin, and went Bear for defense, the only thing I can do is go back to Balance within those 4 seconds. But it’s free of the GCD so I could go Boomie to Bear + FR to Boomie + Moonfire just like that.
Unless you’re cat.
I do wish there was an easier way to move from cat to bear without using Bear Form.
Ah yeah I guess you’re right. You’d have to be out of Kitty form in order for that to work. Good call. Sorry it’s been a minute since I’ve gone through all nuances
Disorienting Roar will do it.
That’s what I use in PvP, especially since a disorient and “be bulkier” are effects that have a lot of overlapping use cases. In raid though I’m using Balance Affinity and Bear is still a good defensive cooldown in that context that I’d like quicker access to. It is what it is I suppose though.
That would be the worst change possible lol.
It’s no different than how it is now, except this let’s you use an ability upon shifting.
Feral —> Bear
1 second
FR
1 second
Bear —> Feral
1 Second
Rake
The change would cut that in half.
Feral —> Bear + FR
1 second
Bear —> Feral + Rake
Aw i read it wrong i think. Read it as, I’d be locked out of all other forms for 4 seconds.
Technically you’d be locked out of the other forms from your first shift.
Feral —> Bear
4 second lockout of Caster/Boomkin
But can shift between Bear and Kitty however many times you can activate the shifts.
Feral —> Caster
4 second lockout of Bear and Boomie.
But can shift between Feral and Caster as many times as you wish within the 4 seconds.
It takes away the GCD and allows for power shifting play. But at a slight cost. But in reality, how often do you use more than 2 forms at a given time?
And this allows you to use abilities on shift and only incur the GCD from an ability use. So you still come out ahead
Edit: as it stands now it’s, Feral to Bear (1 second), Frenzied Regen (1 second), Bear to Caster (1 second), and now you get to use another ability. So that’s 3 seconds before getting to do so. Thanks to shifting taking a global.
New change puts you at about the same down time between hitting 3 forms, but allows abilities between all the shifting.
