Frustrating Raid Loot for Classes not Present

I find it frustrating when as a small guild raid leader (Normally have between 10 to 13 players this raid tier) we keep getting items we can’t use. I know that most guild these days have every class, but the first week of progressing through Normal we got 4 of the 5 raid tokens for classes we didn’t have (DK, DH and Warlock). Since then, 6 of our 9 Heroic Tokens have been for classes that we don’t have (DK, DH and Warlock). We have received 3 warglaves and don’t have a demon hunter.

I know this is just venting, but I really wish blizzard could do something about this. I get the concept of no master loot in raids, I understand that personal loot is not all that fun. But having so much gear just be sold because we are a very casual guild of friends just seems frustrating.

Is there not an easy middle ground where you still have group loot like it is now, but at least for tier it will recognize what is present in the raid? Think of it as a Personal loot roll but it will then place all that personal loot into a group loot pot where it can get rolled out.

Crazy its like RNG finds a way to screw every one…

Weeks without warglaives dropping for raids without Demon Hunter: 0.

I know that pain all too well.

Kind of crazy that your raid is clearing heroic and not 1 person steps up to fill one of those classes on another toon or you can’t get someone to join? You are not even missing some rando class, 3 whole classes that give 5% magic damage + darkness > healthstones, summons, and gates > utilities like amz and grip + opportunities to self negate some debuffs with ams…

What frustrated me is class trinket drop rate and how you have fight other players to get it.

Behold, the Icon 2.0 from, as you guessed it, an early and rather easy boss.

Not only is it really strong for a lot of classes so almost everyone wants it, it gains max power after 5+ people have it and are using it with 5 different buffs (instead of everyone just stacking the crit or haste buffs).

So you’d rather punish lesser played specs and encourage degenerate class stacking? Because that’s what happens if we go back to personal loot. Because that’s the solution to what you’re advocating. As someone that played the lone DH in my raid for the majority of SLs I’ll pass on that. Not getting anything because I had to get lucky enough to be picked for a roll and then again to win what I wanted was painful. So yeah… I’ll 1000% pass on that. For my raid loot is always useful even if it’s only as shards for the guild bank. That means less shard farming for us. Enchants are useful.

Right, nobody has a friend or a decently geared alt? You’d think they’d have folks trying to swap for the no competition factor alone.

Its not really bis for this toon but my demo lock whos my main would love to have it.

This has always been the case prior to PL being introduced-- What you do is DE those pieces in order to offer your Raid members free enchants.

Raids are terrible for small groups IMO. Both the community and WoW devs don’t seem to care though.

The worst offender is fight mechanics. I thought they’d learn something from the Raz fight, where whether you’re in a 9 person or 30 person raid, 3 people get bombs.

No we’re seeing the same crap, like the experiments fight. It’s crazy how much easier it is with larger groups than it is with smaller groups. More healers, but the same amount of damage to the people selected for mechanics.

My guild has too many old grumps to ever merge with another guild or PUG, so to be honest I’m probably going to leave for a larger guild. Blizz makes being in a smaller raid too miserable.

They won’t because that puts us back with stacking groups.

This can only happen if you let it, and the design of the game is such that you want at least 1 of every class in raids for other reasons.

If they would fix Group Loot to be a custom loot table for the specs that are present, that would go a long way to fixing my desire to revert to Personal Loot. Our raid team has the same issue and we have 20-25 people… Wargalives with no DH to use them and a tier token that amazingly was for none of the classes present on the kill.

The game design for a flex-raid should be viable with 2 tanks, 2 healers, and 6 dps of any class. There can be optimizations for sure, but personal loot was tailored to the individual, why can’t group loot be tailored to… the group?

Again, stacking.

Take a warlock that you want for healthstones and gate. Add 3 specific other classes to the party, and the same warlock, playing the exact same, with the same gear, will do 10-13% more damage because those other 3 classes exist in game.

Kinda what i was thinking. Ive got a DK alt i can gear up quickly enough for heroic if thays the case

No one finds it suspicious that an AoTC group isnt running some of the strongest DPS in raids currently (lock and DK’)

I get it… I’m so cursed with my tokens every patch that I convince myself it’s worth it to run LFR for them, and pretty much every time there’s nothing I can even roll on. Fool me once…
