Frustrated, unable to play

I’m just about at my wits end. After about a ten year hiatus, I decided to come back to WoW. I had parts for a new rig coming, but I thought I would try it out on my old machine. I got it downloaded. Prepaid a 6 month subscription, and pre-purchased the new expansion. I logged on, played for an hour or two, and after, was not able to log in again. Ok, old machine, just a couple of days and I will have the new rig built. So I build the new machine. Get windows installed, and the only other program that I downloaded was the blizz launcher. Guess what- still can’t log in. I get to the retrieving characters screen with the create timerunner popup, and get Access Violation error. Two machines, one with a clean install, and still can’t get past the loading screen. I have submitted several tickets, that all get marked “resolved” with a link to supposed fixes. I have uninstalled and reinstalled WoW and Blizzard. exe multiple times, I have turned off xmp for my memory in the bios. I have run the scan and repair ad nauseum. Basically, I feel like I have tried all of the “fixes” that Blizzard has linked, as well as what I have found in the forums to no avail. Now I’m getting angry. I laid out some cash for the new machine, bought expansions, and gametime, and Blizzard keeps telling me that my tickets are “resolved”. I just want a GM to actually look at my ticket instead of auto-generating the list of sometimes fixes and help me. Any suggestions? The one suggestion that I can’t try is changing the in-game graphics settings, but you have to get into the game to actually do that. HELP Please.

TLDR. I can’t log into the game. Access Violation error. None of the recommended fixes have worked.

You can access the graphics settings from the main screen without logging in.

Just found that, lowered settings, still no love.

I absolutely understand your frustration. It’s been happening to me as well.

The solution in this person’s post seemed to work for a lot of people, and is something you can disable from the game menu without logging in:

It also seems they’re aware of the issue thanks to the voices of EU players as well, and even got a blue post response with another suggestion for those of us (like myself) who run the game at an adjusted render scale:

I hope some of these help!
