Nope. AP is stupid easy to get without trying. Because I have no intentions of raiding or doing anything much this xpac due to work and the fact that I just don’t care about the content. I also hate Azerite armor. I just run my emissaries and any quest that might give me something pretty. That’s it.
Without trying, I got to AP 30 on an alt that didnt his 120 until part ways into November.
I never once went out to grind AP. I did some raids. I did some m+. And emissaries.
AK is a catch up mechanic. It helps you catch up. Right now, it offers plenty of a benefit to help you catch up.
Its intention is not to be a “get ahead” mechanic.
Being able to continue using the same traits you’ve been using for months isn’t “getting ahead”
Yet the rings are changing come the new raid. Things are different over all. If you want to use the same exact traits, you have the option of not upgrading your gear.
Not really. They are literally the exact the same traits. Sure there is an extra ring, to make the Azerite system less of a dumpster fire, but those traits are not even a point of discussion. You get the first two traits super quick, no matter what basically.
It’s the extra offensive traits, the defensive traits, and the final +5 item level. Those will be lost (and are important) and literally are THE EXACT SAME. Not a single thing changes, except you just won’t have them.
I disagree the 5 ilvls are important.
As long as you can get the first 2-3 rings quickly…which everything seems to suggest you will…I will be fine.
That’s great, and not what we’re talking about. We’re talking about it feeling like crap to take several weeks (even if you ignore the +5 ring) to do nothing but get access back to the exact same traits you were just using on your old gear.
I would also reference this part of an earlier post in how it will take several weeks to earn those final traits essentially no matter what due to their cost and how it will take a while for AK to catch back up to “normal” levels.
Yeah I think I’m missing something here, I can still get levels so what’s the problem people are having?
I don’t think the average player is that high, the rogue I am on is 28.
You can get the current powers, that’s not at question. People are upset because you’re going to need 36-43 heart levels (depending on your raid difficulty) to keep those traits unlocked on new gear you’ll get, and there is a pretty hard wall around 38 for even people dedicated to earning AP.
That’s not including the +5 ring, but there’s nothing wrong with having that as a goal several weeks out to earn IMO.
And on top of that due to the high costs, it will still take several weeks of AK before you can earn those levels at that reasonable pace again.
Artificially pausing it for no reason is just stupid. It’s pretty clear they don’t want you to get to 40 before the raid is out - so the stuff you equip will be instantly useful.
I guess that is a fair point, if they want to get a head start on content but blizzard simply won’t let them for reasons unknown.
Does anyone know if the Azerite armor abilities still scale with current Azerite level?
EDIT: If what everything everyone is saying is true, then it’s an obvious artificial grind put in place by Blizzard so that they can stretch out content. This should be called out because it’s terrible game design, and it’s an insult to the customer/player.
I do not raid or do mythic plus and only do world quests and other means to get AP and I am at 27. I took some time off. If I can do it anyone can. I do have a disability in which I only can use one hand so I just do what I can to do AP.
When You get new gear in 5 weeks you’ll have to be 30+ to even have most of your basic stuff unlocked. Not to mention the 36+ to have those inner tier powers.
The AP grind is not fulfilling. Island Expeditions still suck. You shouldn’t have to do a ton of extra work on boring/awful content just to keep the powers unlocked on this gear that is the ONLY WAY we can customize our characters and are also the same powers you had been using.
Cause they don’t want you to have them 40+ traits week 1 when the 8.1 raid comes out in Jan
The +5 ilvl’s took like what 5-8 weeks after mythic raid release for most people with Uldir. Why would you expect or want it to be only 2-3 weeks from the new raid release? That is a soft nerf to the content when everyone gets it.
Also I am 37 currently and 55% of the way to 38… so yeah your guess is definitely wrong. I am betting that I will be at least 39 potentially 40 by the time heroic releases, and that is without ever doing more islands than the minimum for the weekly.
Btw they also added quite a few new sources of AP with the patch so.
Did you miss the part where there is a new ring of traits? Soo not exactly the same as we are currently using?
For Heroic gear which is the only tier of Azerite that will be available during the first week of the new raid(also when knowledge comes back into effect), you will only need 34 neck level to have all 3 rings of dps traits unlocked. Mythic which unlocks the following week, will only require 38. Both of those goals are actually quite easily doable.
I don’t, and that’s not what I said. I said the defensive tier should be 2-3 weeks after raid release at most. Which would still put the +5 ilvl tier 5-8 weeks out at least, just like Uldir.
You are grinding way more AP then a huge portion of players then.
Did you miss the part where that extra ring is just more of the exact same traits? Did you miss the part where those have never been part of the discussion anyway? Did you miss the part where I was only talking about the inner ring offensive and defensive bonuses? Did you miss the part where those are the exact same as they are now?
Look, I appreciate the extra ring a lot. It spices up the system nicely and is a welcome addition. It’s not a welcome addition to farm AP over and over to keep unlocking traits I already had on my old gear.
Guess they really don’t want us to collect it.
