At first i did not like it either but people poo-pooing frostbane are wrong.
This thing does wild damage and doesn’t proc much on single target so you don’t lose FS damage there. It’s just amazing tbh.

I bet it feels really nice in M+ and when you are constantly facing against group of enemies.
ST and in PvP practical stand point. The proc rate of Frostbane is a turn off. I really want to like it. 
Frost strike is better for ST anyway.
In world content etc it’s a bit crap but dungeons and the rest it’s godly and flows! PvP is a weird one because neither of the capstones really work from my very limited testing so far. Unless they removed the pvp mod on breath? I’ll need further investigation.
Breath even with the pvp mod is worth taking. Does good damage and allows you to do your rotation normally regardless. Plus the free empower is nice for stacking bonegrinder during pillar.

They’re not. It’s trash because it doesn’t actually provide much, if any, ST benefit over the alternative capstones. It’s huge in pure AOE but pure AOE isn’t a thing which makes Breath/TLW much better.
It needs a huge ST buff to see any sort of real play, otherwise it’ll stay trash after the eventual Obliterate nerfs that put DW back on top.

Shattering Blade ST is still fine. Frostbane is extremely good in M+. I’ve been having a lot of success with DW Frostbane in M+ and DW Shattering Blade + Hyperpyrexia for single target.
Yes, it needs a ST buff because its the only capstone that is good in only 1 scenario. BoS isnt only good in ST. Killing Streak isnt just good in ST, TLW isnt good in just ST, so why is Frostbane only good in AoE?
Nerf Obliterate, put its damage in other abilities.
Yea the aoe is insane. Especially in priory. I think my best was 19mil and im still in the 670s.
It does fall off pretty bad in single target.
So I am torn between 2h bos for good single and solid aoe and dw frostbane for meh single and godly aoe.
That’s the beauty of the newest talent system: You can do both, and all it will cost you is trying to get 3 weapons, and maybe a different set of jewelry.

And even better. Both 2h and dw bos are doing well. I forgot to swap to my 2h on dimensius last night and dw bos was killing it.

I’ve been running frostbane with 2H in pve and it’s been doing good. Less damage if I’m not pulling big, but it also doesn’t trigger much outside of big pulls.
Okay, truthfully at this point I’m starting to wonder if Frostbane needs a proc at all. Could just have it be a replacement for Frost Strike when talented. I know it’s supposed to be a replacement for Shattered Frost, but I feel like the Shattering Blade build could use just a little boost at this point to keep up with Breath.
thats an interesting build, are you using rider or reaper?
I prefer Reaper as I like having frequent go windows to deal with priority adds and such, but you can honestly run either. BoS builds tends to favor Rider more simply because it has more ampage on that 90 second window to coincide with breath, but Shattering Blade builds are flexible.

Frostbane is nice so i don’t have to tab target every mob while hitting FS. Right now i am 690ilvl nothing special but i got a two piece and i sim 25K higher with the FB build compared to BoS. I much prefer DW but in pure ST 2H BoS sims higher i am digging the changes good luck my fellow DK’s.
Tell that to all the people whining about 2H being competitive. They think that it’s the only competitive variant because it’s popular. 2H > DW aesthetically.
Yeah you guys really accomplished great stuff, now to play all modes of gameplay optimally you need 3 weapons.
Talking about aesthetics isnt important either, its basically “i feel” and no one cares how you feel about it.
Not to mention Blizzard says how you should play the spec, with 2 1h weapons, but if 2h is the actual way you should play then they are lying to every single new player and every new frost player out there. Thats not a good thing.
