In your opinion how is the switch from Frost mage to Fire mage for a newer player who isn’t a seasoned wow player… and what advice or tips would you give to that player making the switch from addons, macros, weak auraus etc

I made the switch a few days ago. It really did not take me long to pick up, but I have also played mage for a very long time.
The most important thing is understanding your burst window with Combustion. With 3 charges of fire blast and 3 charges of pheonix flames you get a really satisfying burst window where every second spell becomes a flamestrike or a pyroblast. Not terribly difficult to master once you understand the basics of it. I have not even downloaded any specific addons or weakauras for it, though a mouseover macro for flamestrike will save you some headache (if not possibly at the cost of some missed flamestrikes if you aren’t used to mouseover macros in general).
Wowhead does a good job at laying out combustion windows on their fire mage guide, and that is the only resource I have used.

Not hard at all. Jus takes some time to learn combust rotation. Look up some preheet vids on fire rotation and just practice that for an hour. You’ll get it down in no time, it’s actually a pretty fun rotation.
I don’t like it. Not that it’s overly hard or anything. There are really two issues for me:
- Changing covenants for a new spec that may or may not work out is risky and I’m not feeling great about it.
- You have to stay on top of your rotation constantly or you lose a bunch of dps. Managing that level of multitasking with mechanics happening at the same time is just not fun for me.

I am making the switch today , hardest thing is the target below 30% and tracking it when there are mobs, other than that pretty simple
If you make the switch, spend some time learning your Combustion rotation at a training dummy. 90% of your damage is going to come from this window, so it’s important to get it down. Not the hardest thing, but it is just something you don’t want to make mistakes in.
This may have changed but I thought Venthyr was very close to Night Fae on Single target fire
I would like to try to go back to Fire (still with Venthyr). Can you guys clarify please:
1.Missives for a legendary piece (crit, haste, vers, mast)
2. Give a simple algorithm for the rotation
3. Best addon for Fire mage performance

Tbh, none of the legos are really that great. Stat priority is sim it. Always sim. Change sim from single target to 5 targets for 2 minutes. Take away all buffs from your sim as well.
