Death and Decay for frost should be called: Frost and Decay, While standing in Frost and Decay Frost strike hits all near by targets and slows them.
Avalanche talent: Change it back to when it proced on crits while under the affects of Pillar of Frost this would sink well with icecap OR Remorseless winter expands in size over its duration and hits faster. (Gathering storm talent should be baseline… give us some AOE love)
Obliteration talent: dump this like its hot. Call it Ruination which turns frost strike into a 3 part ability combo thing lol. 1st strike normal frost strike, 2nd frost strike lets out a forward cone of ice cleaving up to 5yds, 3rd strike the dk smashes his sword into the ground causing an explosion of runic power damaging everything in a 10yd radius around the dk.
Soul Reaper should be baseline for us. Horn of winter should be changed to a raid wide buff maybe crit dam or AP
Lol you miss read how i wanted Avalanche to work. I wanted to change the name and the functionality, Frost and decay correlates to being in Frost spec so yeah it wasnt just for no reason.
You obviously dont play the class becuase obliterate is the skill obliteration is the talent i want to change. We already have so many talents that affect obliterate but nothing that does anything to froststrike.
Seems like your just here to bully players interested in their class. I wish i got beta to test out the new two hand frost.
Don’t think Death and Decay needs to be changed for Frost really. We’re Death Knights first, Frost Knights second, although a glyph to make it have blue particles for Frost and green for Unholy would be sweet.
Would love to see less passive talents and more trans-formative and active ones personally. So with that said, I do like the idea of the frost strike talent lol.
And yeah, old execute Soul Reaper should totally be baseline.
Not big on the suggested replacements for obliteration listed above but I do agree that this talent should be replaced with something a bit more trans-formative.
Firstly, I want to thank Gore for his suggestions regarding this underappreciated spec. I can definitely see what you are aiming for; a cold breath of life for a spec that has, to be completely honest, lacklustre animations and abilities when compared to its unholy brethren.
My main concern with frost moving into Shadowlands is Blizzard’s ability to balance between 2h and dual-wield frost. There have already been tests done gauging the proc-rate of certain effects, such as rime, and the results favour dual-wield by a SUBSTANTIAL amount. We are still in the early stages though so I hope Blizzard do something to fix this. So many of Frost’s talents are favoured towards dual-wielding. I would love to see some new talent choices which are designed, aesthetically and purposefully, for 2H users. For example, a 2H variant of Obliteration which deals extra frost damage and sends reverberations which shoot out towards nearby enemies.
I agree with some criticisms from Noct. Dumping obliteration like it’s hot just doesn’t seem plausible. The Frost DK fantasy, at its core, perceives us as a slow-moving, hard-hitting juggernaut of frosty flakes. Thankfully, bringing 2H Frost back assists with this vision. If it were up to me, I’d delete dual-wield frost… we are NOT fast-hitting furriors or frozen rogue variants.
Just to be clear we are talking about the 100 talent called obliteration and not the baseline ability called obliterate right? As for getting rid of dual-wield I must say that I am fine with being able to have the option between the two. I will say though that the suggestion variant Obliteration is much more interesting than the current talent and I am game on the one condition that it also applies to frost scythe as I believe that the two abilities contrast nicely.
Obliteration is the talent i said to change, obliterate definately needs a more inpactfull animation!.
Ruination was thought of as a change in gameplay something fresh and new. I agree some more transformative talents would be great.
The reason i thought of the frost and decay is because i feel like its just a here have this back, for blood and unholy it actually modifies an ability but for frost it will just be the dam so i made that up to add a bit of flavor to it. Also i feel frost needs to talent most of its aoe dam so this would help in that regard
Perhaps instead of death and decay adding more literal aoe damage it could make debuffs become contagious in the affected area for example your stacks of razorice and slows will affect other targets. it looks like it needs something though.
Well I will be honest we are supposed to be anti paladins and yet all 3 specs the visuals are best fugly. Our class just needs a visual overhall. Also I feel like we need a real execute not one like warriors or paladins but one that fits the theme of a dk while being a real execute.
I do not remember what expansion it was but I remember prot paladins droping cons and it wold move with them. What if they did DND like that have it move with us. I know it could cause some issues with pulls but it could be a viable way to make it actully worth using. I can see both sides of the arugement about having DND do frost damage. First we are Death Knights this is more class specific than spec. But I also see a wasted chance of allowing us some more dps.
I know this probably sounds stupid but I remember when prot paladins cast cons and it moved with them. What if they did that to DND it kinda makes since seeing how we are desecrating the ground so that desecration should follow us when we move. I know some will say we do not want to be paladin clones. But they are the only class that has an ability like this. But this would fix the issue of dropping dnd and having the pack or boss or what ever your fighting being moved out of it or just moving itself out of dnd.
People are upset with the runeforging because dual weild gets 2, but remember unholy has had 1 all this time. Sure the putting 2runes on a weapon is probably a fix but i think there would be alot background work for weapons to able to have 2 enchants on them. I think they just need to make a 2hnd only rune.
Here some ideas
Rune of soulstealing: hits with your 2hnd weapon strip power from your foes. increases str% and increases your highest secondary by #
Rune of Obliteration: Obliterate’s with a 2hnd weapon have a chance to strike a second time. They do not generate runic power but can proc RIME
Rune of Deadly Frost: Frost strikes with a 2hnd weapon can now proc killing machine at % chance
The Frost talent tree synergies really well with DW because it has been built and refined for DW. Without some serious changes or an addition like MoTFW 2H will never be equal (probably not even close) to DW damage output.
Blizzard has to tackle three significant issues.
DW access to two runes
Talent tree built for DW
DW Procs KM significantly more
It will be interesting to see how they respond to these issues as its an unavoidable reality.
why you coming at the dude like that? he didn’t insult you now youre insulting him based off his toons name? pathetic dude, all he did was list his ideas
death and decay has scourge strike aoe, why cant frost have frost strike aoe?
Just add the change underneath where it says unholys scourge strike does aoe
Because frost has Frostscythe, remorseless winter and rime procs for some decently hitting howling blasts. It also has BoS even though people might not like it, it’s damage is good in both aoe and st.
Using abilities inside DnD will cause the ice to condense itself around the death knight giving them a stacking buff. Upon reaching 6 stacks the Death Knight will have critical mass and moving into an enemy causes the Death Knight to slam its frozen form against its foes dealing damage and a small knock back.
