Frost Solution

Just take away some from arms warrior design:

Let us keep rune strike as our rune spam ability to dump runes. (Physical, no block dodge, parry)

Give obliterate a cooldown but make it always deal frost damage. Killing machine will reset the cooldown; make it scale with crit for extra damage.

Give us a stacking buff from frost strike to deal increased obliterate damage like overpower does for mortal strike to make fs feel better to press.

Buff or rework glacial advance to make it a satisfying part of our rotation.

Make rime hit a bit harder on primary target.

Make frostwyrm’s fury cooldown be reduced based on runes spent and slightly nerf damage.

Make frostwhelp do more damage on primary target.

Obliterate already has a cooldown in the form of runes?

“yes…ish” lol but since you can ‘spam’ obliterate, the damage need to be scaled down, i mean, as long as you have 2 runes, you can use, and you have a lot of tools to refresh the runes…

I wouldn’t call a skill i can cast 3 times in a row ( unless something proccs ) for spamable?

It’s our primary spam ability. We have a lot of rune regen baked into our kit already, making it the primary rune spender thay we spam for upkeep on pof and rw.

What I’m wanting is a satisfying big bonk like mortal strike that feels like it hits hard and justifies a button press outside a passive.

What you are talking about is Obliterate. Not the one we have today but the one we used to have that actually hurt the enemies a lot. :frowning:

How hard do you want it to hit, because in my kill windows in pve gear I was dropping 14k crits in low level 2s. Again, pve geared. I’d chill streak was going, between my melee swings, and frost fever you could very easily take 25K over the course of one global. With a good chance to take another 20k or so over the next two.

All while setting up my own CC/kill windows once a minute.

An instant speed skill is not going to hit as hard as chaos bolt and be used every other GCD, and it shouldn’t. I don’t want to play in that meta and let’s be serious…you wouldn’t either.

Exactly what I want. But we need disease scaling to make that work, so I proposed an easier solution in making it function like MS.

Frost is not arms though… remorseless winter and howling blast/frost fever are more integral to frost fantasy than obliterate and frost strike. Obliterate being reworked as apart of the kit exactly as you said but no longer being obliterate makes more sense than constantly changing what obliterate does.

I’d like a more left swing right swing tempo, as a 2hand it could be a swing and a hilt bonk justification, but frost strike being so far from obliterate in the current kit turns frost strike and breath into what they are. I guess frost feeling more like a hit combo spec by design rather than chance.

I do agree but also think hb gets left behind and even improved rime barely makes it hold up. RW just does way too much for the whole spec, and I’d like to see the damage profile shifted a bit. FDK flavor contains so much about crushing violence but doesn’t really deliver that fantasy at all with the current design.

Eh… Remorseless Winter is a skill that got added in MoP. Frost Strike and Obliterate has been a part of the DK toolkit since Wotlk so i don’t quite understand how it can be more integral to frost fantasy?

Legion…

Shadowlands cinematic solidifies environmental effects as somewhat deathknight related, the idea of being a walking blizzard on the battlefield screams frost dk more than being a heavy needle (compared to mm sub in my mind, even though now even they have passive cleave). Frost strike is nearly heroic strike and they got rid of that nonsense eventually, frost would just be gcd dead with that dump no longer existing. Digressing from that can of worms I just think remorseless winter would be a sad mechanic to ever lose, whereas obliterate and frost strike work well with alternatives such as frost cleave and to a lesser extent breath.

Gotta love WoWhead giving 2 different answers. Changelog says 7.0.

Hiccups like this make it hard to believe you played dk back in wrath. RW used to be a behemoth of an ability in pvp with its damage and cc.

Oh shut up for crying out loud. WoWhead says 7.0 in its changelog. Not only that, but we are talking how many years ago? Wow… woooooow. Its not even the same ability, and most people just used Gorefiends Grasp in any group content because deathballs help out more than slowing targets down… how could anyone ever forget about some obscure ability back then?!

Just take the L, homie.

What do you think that means exactly?

And just shut up about it already “homie”. I got the information from WoWhead, its changelog doesnt show it existed prior to 7.0. I cant just go log into MoP right? So you should be asking why is WoWhead saying it doesnt exist prior to 7.0, while other parts of the website says it does? Or how about that OTHER sites changelogs do say it existed prior to 7.0.

WoWhead is trash.

Not the same ability?
Sure it has changed slightly but it still more or less the same ability. You even get the stun back with a pvp-talent nowadays.

Mop Version:

  • Remorseless Winter: Surrounds the Death Knight with a swirling tempest of frigid air, dealing 3777374 Frost damage to enemies within 8 yards, every 1 sec for 8 sec. Each time Remorseless Winter deals damage, it reduces enemy movement speed by 15%, stacking up to 5 times. Upon receiving a fifth application, an enemy will be stunned for 6 sec.

Shadowlands:

  • Drain the warmth of life from all nearby enemies within 8 yards, dealing [9 * (5.885% of Attack power) * [(Attack power * 0.98)][((Attack power + Offhand attack power) * 2 / 3)] – 2H, DW / Attack power] Frost damage over 8 sec and reducing their movement speed by 20%.

What we have today is a nerfed version of what Remorseless Winter used to be, but that can be said about most of the DK skills ( thank you devs… :rage: :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: )
