Just noticed today that my Elemental is doing ZERO damage in any mode. It is totally passive all the time. It will not attack when told to do so. I can manually fire the waterbolt or freeze, but there is no auto damage whatsoever. The elemental used to contribute to my overall damage but presently does zero damage and stands around like a bump on a log. No, he is not set to be passive. He is set to “Assist”. I’ve also tried defend, etc. No damage is output. Was this an intended nerf or did Blizzard muck things up again???
Sorry that I logged into the forums with my hunter toon, but my frost mage is Pagermon.
Is the waterbolt autocast on?
Sometimes it’s buggy and won’t attack. You can use a macro with your spells that has the pet attack it.
Sometimes the auto attack gets turned off on water bolt. I’d check that first. Sometimes he just bugs out and decides he’s done helping you… that’s when I dismiss him and summon a different puddle to help me
Also, idk if other people have this issue, but mine is kind of an idiot and doesn’t realize he’s not in LoS sometimes, and he’ll just stand there wondering what he’s supposed to do.
He won’t start attacking again until I call him back to my side and he can see the target again
bugs like this and the general stupidity of pets is part of why i’m considering dropping the elemental for lonely winter…
It’s tempting but the 5% damage loss on glacial spikes is considerable.
Pets in wow always seem to have low IQ haha. But that being said, the water elemental isn’t necessarily supposed to pump dmg. You can use it’s pet freeze to shatter spells (I have a nice pet freeze macro if you want it).
In pvp you’ll always take ice nova and in pve you’ll always fun with chilled winter (I think it’s called, the one on the left). Unless you’re running a packed ice/whiteout mythic+ build then you can run lonely winter
Do it, you’ll have more fun. I don’t even use GS anymore.
