Healing for mages?
Pick another class buckko

Healing for Mages? Play Arcane.

If you’re looking for good buffs, I’ld say(with relevant CD duration TBA)-

Make Baseline:

  • Deep Shatter- Frostbolt could use a small, but decent, buff outside of straight damage increase. Plus our whole schtick is critical strike damage so why not let it benefit somehow.
  • Concentrated Coolness- Leave damage increase as is, or have it state Mastery. Though even without the damage bonus would be a huge QoL improvement to get around pathing issues such as the Za’qul encounter in the Eternal Palace or prematurely stopping because it clips an enemy.
  • Lone Winter- However give it the same effect as Hunter’s Lone Wolf. If pet is not summoned you gain it’s effect, otherwise you have a pet. To replace it with Frostbite with the only change of dealing and Aoe frost explosion equal to 50% of damage dealt on targets immune to freezing. Or Lucid Dreams minor effect called Frigid Condensation.
  • Cauterizing Blink- Not only because every other class has some form of heal, even if minor, but giving the Mage something outside of Barriers for survive-ability. As well as instead of making it a flat amount, make it something like 2% maximum health per tick.
  • Shimmer- As well as make it get Blink’s removal ability as there’s so many ways for other classes to stun and root. Replacing it with Negative Space which pulls anything within 4yrds of your location to that location. Or Chilled Space slowing enemies within 4yrds of your location by 40% for 3s.
  • Greater Invisibility- Since recently regular invisibility has become all but useless in most scenarios.
  • Mirror Images- Only because it fits with out class identity and we’ve had it for so long baseline before. Replacing it with Image Empowerment causing them to copy your spells for the duration at 50% damage. Or increasing your damage by 20% per image that’s alive and their damage by 50%.

Spell/Ability Changes:

  • Fingers of Frost refreshing if used after a Brain Freeze. It’s never fun to lose a Fingers of Frost proc because Ice Lance benefits from Winter’s Chill.
  • Elementa’s Waterbolt should benefit from Mastery again and apply Bone Chilling if you have it talented, or giving you an extra Icicle every five casts if using Frigid Condensation.
  • Icicles should work as they do, however, change the duration on them to show the oldest Icicle.
  • Bone Chilling should not drop all stacks, if not allowing pet to apply it, and instead only lose 1 stack every 8 seconds. It really hurts losing all stacks because of boss transitions, forced interrupts, and being stunned/interrupted/disoriented for more than 8s.
  • Ice Block has for the longest time been almost a non-issue, but with the progression of the game, its restrictions have become more of a hassle. Not being able to move while immune is fine enough, but allow the Mage to cast through it, reducing the damage accordingly. Or a 3% health recover for every second you’re in it as in PvP it just prolongs the inevitable death you will be receiving.

To replace the lost three PvP talents we have the contenders(in no particular order) of: Tunnel of Ice, Glacial Assault, Eldritch Warding, and/or Overwhelming Power. Others can be created as they are seen.

This is just what I can think of off the top of my head. Though one thing that would absolutely make me the happiest Mage in the world is a glyph to give Frostbolt it’s OG animation and sound.
