‘new’ frost mage player here (haven’t played it since legion mage tower)
highlights-
-blink → alter → alter back → blink (2x 9% hp shields) + blink stuns
-blast wave on frost? dope
-shifting power to reset cds faster
-big novas, big dmg associated w novas ( can run ice ward but i think rof gives you more since frostbite )
-ability to pick up multiple talents in frost tree. linely winter + bone chill. ray of frost + thermal void. etc. very cool tree w some interesting ways to chain multipliers.
lowlights-
i skipped cone of cold for blast wave but i think choices like that are pretty interesting. same deal in frost tree, i went for more utility w freezing rain/improved blizz but losing out on snap freeze and flash freeze for more dam. choices like that all over.
i think blizz hit a home run w these talent trees, many choices & sacrifices to be made.
my first pass, seems pretty interesting.
a ton of high level pve and pvpers have universally panned the mage tree. we have tank mages in the game now and its unfun to play vs and as. id be shocked if it wasnt fixed
Although the mage tree could be designed better, I do think that picking certain talents will come at a cost. If you choose the talent options that make you tanky, you’d be losing out of some good mobility & utility options. I’m not against that tradeoff concept - especially for mages. I’d love to see how the overall balance looks like though.
yeah i ditched the shield heal for more mobility/cds (shifting power). also didnt chase db as i think rof is just better. the blast wave add is a nice cherry
i like that they split the nightfae power with the dragon breath and the fire mage meteor a hard hit to combustion since one is a good cc.
will blizzard remove the deaths in one fell swoop?
I have seen that the classes have divided the rotation abilities that in shadowland were of great damage.
