Blizzard hates us!
They always have brother…
At this rate, casting Frostbolt as Arcane will be top dps rotation.
Frostbolt will never run out of mana at least
I am officially “tilted” now. Not only has Arcane no received a single buff but Frost DK, Assassination Rogues, Havoc DH, Destruction Locks and probably others I am missing have all gotten double digit dmg % increases at this point.
Of course the irony is that it still hasn’t made one but of difference for any of them. That’s how big the initial gap between the top and bottom performing spec was! How the hell did this expansion go live in that state!? Unbelievable!
What kind of data are they looking at exactly? The graphs can be read by 5 year olds and they can tell you these incremental changes won’t make a bit of difference. Some of these specs won’t be on par even with a 50% buff! The vast majority, Arcane included, need deep dive reworks like the one Shadow got.
As things stand right now the game has like 5 classes and only a couple more specs that at even close to being viable. Free-to-play mobile games from China have more diversity!
I’m happy my spec is getting buffed, but I feel yall’s pain. you should have got 3% too
As you can see I’m very very new but have been lurking since about a month before Shadowlands released. My heart was set on Frost mage and I was gutted wandering, starting/deleting characters because I just don’t know what will make me happy. I’m excited Frost is getting another buff I was hoping for something like 5-10% but anything is better than nothing…
I’m in disbelief that Arcane hasn’t received any love. I’ve been looking back at previous expansions and…yeah it’s…a dark road. What on earth is this?
This will just widen the gap between Arcane and other specs. Hopefully Blizzard will see that, and watch as Arcane parse numbers keep dropping and actually do something about it.
A 10% damage buff would go a long way to keeping it somewhat viable, though realistically it needs a complete overhaul to bring it into the current iteration of WoW rather than being left in Cata.
We’re just chillin’. Jugglin’ arcane orbs for the children of the world.
Woah woah woah woah. Frost dks were gutted right before SL went live.
The only buffs they’ve have gotten since then was their damage was increased by 2% when using a 2h.
So they definitely haven’t gotten double digit buffs
Refreshing for Frost, but I’m not sure why Arcane is left dead. It seemed the spec had caught their attention in beta (hence its changes) but it’s just a tad under tuned. It seems to dominate once in a blue moon on ST, that’s about it.
Fire gets DB why don’t we have Deepfreeze?
Arcane doesn’t need damage. It needs mechanical tuning.
It needs Slipstream baseline.
Ok maybe a minor buff to AB and AM wouldn’t hurt.
Hoping for 9.1 at this point…
3% won’t do anything for frost. It will still be crap in PvP and very mediocre in PvE.
I don’t really understand those very small buffs. They should buff too much and then nerf if necessary.
I agree arcane needs a redesign to make movement less punishing, and maybe a small damage buff, but what data are you looking at? No spec is 50% below another. If you’re looking at all percentiles on warcraftlogs then you are the one with the bad data. For logs you need to look at 90-95th percentile only, as these are the people playing the class properly and the people who blizzard are paying attention to for tuning.
Go to warcraftlogs and look at the mage specs in the 95th percentile by ilvl bracket on heroic or mythic difficulty. You’ll see that both arcane and frost appear to be scaling better than fire and most other specs (with brackets >500 parses).
According to the data on warcraftlogs, at higher percentiles and item levels, all mage specs are viable for any raid content at this point, with arcane struggling a bit more in mythic due to movement being so punishing (go look at the data, don’t base it on your feelings).
https://www.warcraftlogs.com/zone/statistics/26#bracket=16&dataset=95
The highest ilvl bracket for mythic raids in the 95th percentile where frost has >500 parses. With most of the top mages playing fire. Without the additional 3% buff. How is this very mediocre?
I’d also like a buff to mirror images - their hit points are pathetic.
Supernova could be more fun.
Intelligent Mirror Images as a talent is a pipe dream of mine.
Arcane design is flawed fundamentally. They can’t alter our damage profile for long PVE encounters without making us too strong in short bursts (mostly a PVP concern, which is funny considering that things like convoke exist, but I digress).
I agree with what others have mentioned - need to look at some of the mechanics of the spec. Make movement less punishing, make mana a bit easier to manage (fix barrage mana refund!), figure out a way to keep evocation from being a lead balloon. This would go a long way to addressing our damage discrepancies in raids.
Also set the ilvl to say 220 to normalize the comparisons by gear. It’s very interesting to say the least when you poke around heroic/mythic settings and set by last day/1week. Paints a little different picture than what people are saying on these forums.
