I’m sorry these frost changes are terrible. Ignoring fingers of frost in single target (what’s our tier set bonus for now??), spamming frost bolt for deaths chill… I could go on, the rotation just feels bad. Does anyone agree?
Completely unacceptable to talk this way. Honestly, I feel sorry for you. Your actual life must be miserable
I 100% agree.
Frost has this fun, reactive, frantic playstyle, and Spellslinger played into it.
But these changes… they de-emphasize all the things that I found fun in this build, and push us towards being frostbolt turrets. We’re ignoring the core procs of the specialization and the hero tree.
These changes are just… so anti-fun. I am legit bummed out.
It’s a balancing problem, the gameplay is there, but the problem is that the balance is incentivizing the build that makes you spam frostbolt as opposed to using your procs, they didn’t do anything that straight up made the gameplay worse, but the tuning is what makes the frostbolt spam build optimal. Blizz refusal to introduce talents that proc brain freeze like old tier 2/3 DF sets and splinter storm being so low in proc rate caused this problem for slinger.
For frostfire they should make empowerment excess fire/frost stack up to 2 and maybe slightly increase the proc rate of empower/the passive frostfire proc to make frost bolt spamming less important.
Then remove deaths chill and the talent preceding it which I don’t remember the name of, they are both awful and they don’t contribute to gameplay in a meaningful way, in fact they are anti fun.
Also the talent that increased the damage of shatter frost bolt is a problem, just get rid of it, it’s not fun anyway.
Also please increase the haste from frostfire from 1 to 2% per stack just like you did with mastery
Sometimes I think Devs make changes without seeing the big picture. Because everytime someone comes up with a weird or bad rotation (in this context, by bad I mean a rotation that does not feels good or right in execution) that turns out to be the one that does the most dps.
I was happy when I saw the talent that makes GS generate more splinters. The change to splinterstorm giving brain freeze is good. The whole frostbolt spam for death’s chill buff is just bad. Thank God I play very casually because I’m not going to do that.
I wholeheartedly agree that Frost feels super bad now. Even worse than before. Literally casting frostbold and ignoring main procs (FoF) is just a bad design.
I just don’t understand why they could not leave the Hero spec be, If you like GS/RoF/ComS etc big hitting spells on ST then make Frost Fire cater to those people. While Spellslinger makes up its damage with a lot of small casts like Splinters/IL/Flurry/Icicle. We would have 2 viable playstyle and everybody is happy. Now both is just trapped in this hardcasting frostbolt/GS hell that a lot of people just hate.
It also doesn’t make sense to ignore FOF because it basically ignores our tier set in single target. Idk what they are even thinking.
Sorry but I disagree. Why a hero tree should determine which talents you pick or play. I dont like frostfire. I want to play spellslinger with GS and RoF.
You got it in reverse. The talent you pick/play would determine the hero talent you want to play. You talent into GS—> You go to Frost Fire. You talent into IL → You go to SS.
And good job because you now actually talent out of RoF. In the previous version (IL Spam) you actually used RoF on ST. (You also used GS, but mostly outside of IV or if you could fit it in the Splinterstorm triggering)
There is a new talent in SS that interacts with GS.
Thankfully I play for fun so I pick what I like.
The new rotation is so bad. IL spam was better.
I know that, it wasn’t that the case for 2 months. We got a rework that no one asked or wanted.
Sure, you can do that. However that basically contradicts your whole point or stance on anything, because you could have done that previously aswell, ignore how SS plays and just play for “fun”.
I would say the previous rotation was better than this, but I can also see that the IL spam in IV was over the top, but this is now the other end of the spectrum… we are basically back to the noIL rotation we had in BFA.
Basically if make it so that “Frostbolt → Flurry → IL → IL” is not optimal in Single target you F-ed up frost mage.
Before the rework I played SS as stated on the guides. Using RoF outside IV. Using GS occasionally. Using SP inside IV after FO and spamming IL.
Ignoring IL in ST during IV… I’m not going to do that ever. Incredible how just changing Splinterstorm to give a BF proc causes this horrible rotation.
