I mean, since you’re asking me, I’ve never been a fan of mages. Big fan of death knights, though. So I’d go the DK route.
Frost DK is easier to master. Frost Mage is pretty average so whatever. It’s your choice, really.

Do both. Keep one as main and the other one as 2nd main. That’s what I do =].
Depends what you want to do and at what levels. But they are both pretty good at all content.
I second Frostzadan’s suggestion. Make both, and then decide which to main and which to alt after hitting 60. That way, you can fully check out the changes, and the new stuff in SL, and see which you’d prefer using in your preferred endgame content
i would go with mage
I prefer melee, so dk! They are slow but the death grip is fun!
mages do more damage, they can tp and cast spells n sh#@t
death knights look badass, better transmog imo, they can summon undeads so idk cant tell you what to play
