With Death’s Echo and Chill Streak moving into the talent tree, I thought we could brainstorm some interesting and useful new PvP talents to take their place.
Icicle Crash
A series of icicles crash to the ground around you dealing high damage in a small area.
The idea here is to activate the ability, then have a small circle appear on the ground that a falling icicle will hit in a couple of seconds. 1~ new icicle and new location per second for 5~ seconds. The circles could be around 5-25~ yards away from you so are encouraged to move to a circle with a falling icicle and grip an enemy under it.
It should probably have pre-determined spawn locations around you based on the direction you are facing. If it were random within an area around you, you could just stand against a wall and make them all hit a certain area like shadow priest void volley. I think this should be avoided as it would just be another aoe button to press during a go.
Repositioning enemies is key to Frost DK PvP, so a talent that rewards repositioning enemies to certain locations at certain times, or even having teammates help reposition them would be very fun and rewarding and give you something to do outside of your normal go, or to add complexity and execution to enhance the existing go.
Frozen Plates
Physical abilities used against you buff you with Frozen Plates, granting 0.5% armor for 5~ seconds stacking up to 30~ times.
While it’s okay for classes to have strengths and weaknesses, Frost DK is extremely vulnerable to physical damage, particularly when trained. This weakness shouldn’t be totally eliminated, but opting into a PvP Talent can make it more bearable.
The idea is to provide more protection to the DK the longer they are trained. Enemies may be encouraged to swap off for a few seconds to allow the stacks to reset.
Stacks are gained from abilities, not all attacks. This is so pets, dual wielders and any other high volume sources of physical damage aren’t disproportionately affected.
Icy Shackles
The next two unique targets hit by Chains of Ice are also debuffed with Icy Shackles for 5~ seconds, drawing them both into a central point between the two targets if they are within 40~ yards of each other, and are rooted for 5~ seconds.
Similar to ‘Chains of Kel’Thuzad’ from Heroes of the Storm.
The idea here is to give the DK a high skill-cap talent that rewards creativity. For example, it could be used against teams that are harder to group up, like wizards. Icy Shackles on an ele shaman and a hpriest, then death gripping the warlock into a triple blind.
For peeling, forcing los, interrupting casts, setting up without blind etc.
The ability is telegraphed for 2 globals (2 Chains of Ice casts) so enemies can outrange each other preemptively (although if they go back within range during the debuff it will still draw them together), prepare a dispel for the nova etc.
I would also like to see this change to Blinding Sleet
Blinding Sleet needs to have a very short persistent hitbox. This will solve issues where Death Grip > Blinding Sleet occasionally won’t hit the target even if they’re right in front of you.
What would you guys like to see?
