Frost changes on ptr

Looks like they’re going to gut frost mage slows next patch.

Blizzard going from 15s duration to 1.5 and orb getting some hefty nerfs as well.

I know snares are strong in M+ but making a spell actually 10x worse seems overboard, considering snares have always been a core part of frost’s specialty. A nerf this gigantic seems ridiculous, especially since it’s been like this since legion and keys have only gotten more difficult since then.

More nerfs to comet storm and orb damage (unless those were tooltip changes to reflect existing values) and no buffs to frostbolt or ice lance. Feelsgoodman

Those snare nerfs are weird. Why duration instead of amount?

Arcane: boring as crap to play.

Frost: ST damage is laughable .... now not even viable for M+ or AoE fights.

Fire: Playable I guess but still has mechanics issues.

I'm really done with this dev team. They have their heads so far up their asses it's beyond laughable now.
Huh, having fled back to my mage after they butchered my Druid these might actually be the changes that cause me to walk away from WoW.

Guess we'll see how it all plays out, but on paper it looks pretty horrendous.
Yeah, barring miraculously good announcements at Blizzcon (highly unlikely) this one finally earned Blizz the unsub they have been trying so hard to get.

I was actually hoping for some small damage buffs for Frost, since their damage is pretty mediocre. But nerfing a slow from 15 seconds to 1.5?!? A 1.5 second stun is weak, but a slow is absolutely pointless.

At this point, gross incompetence is understating the class devs. So much for Holinka being a good influence . . .

Idk I get along just fine in M+ dmg seem pretty solid. Viable even. I guess if viable means pulling 18k then yeah.
I'm now gonna just play my druid and DH . Those are some drastic changes to frost .if someone looks at you you lose health . Now avoiding melee with lower damage and snares will be impossible . I thought they would buff the spells speed and damage but I guess they are smoking crack . I could understand understand taking a few seconds off but damn they took alot .
I don't understand. Do the devs just hate mages? They rarely touch us except to hand out blanket nerfs for pvp related issues at the expense of pve.

I think frost was fine, and actually in need of a buff not a nerf. Fire is still awkward and needs some love and rearranging of talents/base spells and a little pruning (never enjoy using scorch). Arcane needs a complete rework.

Could we get a dev or blue post to clarify why we are out of control in pve content?

Most other classes do our numbers and more within two globals. We have long cast times with little to no rewards and rely heavily on procs that are inconsistent and sometimes conflict.

I wouldn't mind some mastery reworking too.

This is probably it for me. My guild is pretty much dead with people leaving the game. I was going to look for a new one but now if I have to switch mains there's little to motivate me to play.

I already log in and stare at the screen for a hour trying to motivate myself to do something in this wretched excuse for an expac. Now if I have to start over on a new main to get him to where my mage is I just don't wanna bother.
They did destroy arcane from one day to the next with like 400%nerf to the manashield, they only slim thing arcane had going for it in pvp.

That “talk” are rumors spread by people with 0 knowledge of what is actually going on.

By the looks of it, Frozen Orb is getting both gutted. Well...welcome to the Melee Train. It’s a dark place to be...
Ouch! Blizzard snare duration reduced from 15 seconds down to 1.5 seconds. That's gonna make kiting in PVE fun. lol.

1.5 seconds isn't long enough to cast another Blizzard, which means if you're trying to kite a large pack the pack may get to you unless you hit them with something else like Cone of Cold.

Also Frozen Orb snare reduced from 50 to 30%.

I mean, I was expecting the snare nerfs. But I guess I figured we’d get some damage buffs to compensate. But no, our damage was nerfed too....

Lol. Glad I have a fairly decent Paladin and Druid geared. Guess I’m finally going to make the “main” switch. Feelsbad
It's funny how we are losing Utility, when this is one of the things that's being complained about the most.

Well, at least we got a 2% aura damage buff /kappa

But seriously, this is just ridiculous. If they wanted to do something about our Slows, just remove Frigid Winds talent and change it to something else. +15% to all slows was pretty strong, as it made Cone of Cold slow for up to 85% and our other slows stronger too.

Blizzard slowing for only 1.5s? If that's the case, at least increase the radius by 100% or make it instant cast or something, as things will only stay slowed while inside the area of effect.

I'm not surprised by Frozen Orb being nerfed though, it was doing a lot of damage already. I just didn't expect for its slow to be nerfed along with its damage. 3 seconds and only 30% slow, really?

Comet Storm beign nerfed across the board again will make it even weaker in PvP where it is already nerfed by what? 40%?

Please, just give us back some damage to our Shatter Combos and Frostbolt, please. You can't just take everything away without giving some back. This will make us even weaker in raids, where we aren't even top damage and slows don't matter that much.
