I’ve killed/looted about 20 times now and this is what I’m seeing:
Getting an “item you need”, seems to be about a 90%+ drop rate. I’m fine with this (although, maybe not for such a limited-time item). I think we’ve seen with one of the Anniversary events where the drop rate was increased to 100% that… that doesn’t feel great, either.
So not only am I regularly getting loot, so that the event definitely feels worth doing, but IT SEEMS SO FAR that each time the game goes to generate loot, it’s only picking from what I have left. It’s not giving me duplicates.
The combination of a 90%+ drop rate, and not being given duplicates means that every time I’m getting a kill, it feels rewarding, I’m almost always getting loot; and just as important, it’s AN ITEM I NEED!!! Whether that’s the pet, the mount, the Cards for the Achv, or the xmog… SOMETHING THAT I NEED DROPS.
I can’t even IMAGINE how frustrating this event would be if every time I got a kill, I was just getting duplicate cards. It would make this Achv almost impossible to complete.
This not only makes THIS event more fun, I think it speaks towards how we acquire loot in the general sense.
Said another way: Deterministic gameplay feels GREAT!!! Waiting 14 weeks to get a Rezan trinket, when I ran AD 10+ times a week … SUCKS.
It started off buggy and isn’t perfect, but I like how it’s handling loot drops.
Even if my made-up stat is accurate, that still means a 10% chance to get nothing.
So… it’s TECHNICALLY possible for someone to have a long string of getting nothing … but they should also be able to recognize that’s not the “normal” experience.
I’ve gotten a couple “no-loots”, but out of 20+ kills?? This is still very high chance to get loot, esp since I’m not getting dupes.
I got everything on my main. I’m trying to get the bag on my Warrior. I’ve done over 20 kills and many of them were 0 loot. I had max of those green cards. If you delete them you get one off each kill.
Seems silly to me. Imagin’ having a few alts and you need to kill this boss a ton to see a bag and event ends before you can get them.
It is a step up over the goblin event, that is after they adjusted the portal spawns. Considering before we were euthanizing a lot of demon goats while waiting on the things we wanted to drop.
I’m just doing once a toon now, I have everything except the bag on all my toons. Time to do the TW event and a HS boss in between on however many toons I feel like doing between now and the end of the event.
I just got my last item from it, aside from a few cards in the achievement. Only took me like 10 to 12 kills. Seems like good drop rates. But I’ve also always had pretty good luck in this game. Well, except for Rivendare’s Deathcharger. Apparently I traded all my luck on that for good luck everywhere else.
So like many of the people talking in general chat on my realms who are only getting wild cards?
You got lucky. So did some others. Not everyone is getting that lucky.
RNG for one week events that we don’t know if we’ll ever see this stuff again is bad design. It should have all been on a vendor for currency we earn through playing tables and killing the boss.
Wild Cards isn’t the same as Dupes of “real” cards.
Wild Cards is basically a “no loot” roll. It happens.
While I agree a vendor is always going to be the BEST option, this is a very close second because: it doesn’t require a currency, doesn’t require a unique NPC, etc etc. It’s worse if you only want (sic) one item, but for collector’s trying to get all the things… it’s the same. I guess that’s why I like it. I don’t need a vendor, if you’re giving me all the items without having to suffer through dupes.
