From Blood Elves to Vulpera; What is the thought process?

So we’re clear up front, I don’t care about High Elves, but I’m trying to figure out what is going on with game direction decisions without assuming there’s an intentional bias.

  1. In WC3, there were 4 factions. In WoW, we combined 2 factions into 1. The Horde and Undead into the Horde; The Night Elves and the Alliance into the Alliance. In the Burning Crusade, we decided to give the High/Blood Elves to the Horde. This seems to me (please correct me if I’m wrong) the only case of defection from WC3.

  2. Jumping up to BfA, all the ARs are clones save for 1 model on each side (fine so far) and then out of no where the Vulpera.

Has there been an example of this kind of deference toward the Alliance? The only think I can think of is the Bumble Bee mount, but that hardly seems comparable.

Well the original reason for Blood Elves was to add a “pretty” race to Horde so more players would play that side, back then Alliance outnumbered Horde by more than 3:1 on most servers, some with even higher disparity. How that has changed since then…

If you want to get technical, it’s the Alliance that has the only non-clone AR. The Vulpera look unique but they use the Goblin skeleton whereas Kul’Tirans use their own.

This, Blood Elves going Horde dosen’t fit lore and never did, it was shoe horned in to give the Horde players an Alliance race, because Horde was simply unpopular.

Even now that horde is the more popular faction, everyone on it is playing the “pretty” race (Blood elves) Or the “cute” race (Vulpera). Noone who plays horde actually plays as Horde races.

AND two horde Allied Races use Night Elf frames!

Make blood elves wretched, wine elves withered, give the vulpera mange.

Make horde scary again!

Excuse you. I played Undead and Tauren almost exclusively. It just so happens that the undead story is going down a different path that I don’t much care for so I race changed.

Sounds like a high elf thread in disguise. Play wc3 human campaign frozen throne and then the blood elf lands in WoW and it will make sense they joined the horde. It totally makes sense for vulpera joining the horde. The horde saved their spiecies from the snake people, we hired them and the alliance deployed kill squads against them why wouldn’t they join the horde?

This is true.

Vulpera are furry fox goblins. Kul’tirans utilize their own unique rig. Also, Alliance are the only ones to get an exact copy of a Horde race (Ren’dorei) which already utilize the blue eyes feature. The nightborne are different in posture and honestly overall quality compared to night elves, but ren’dorei are pretty spot on using the exact sin’dorei model. Though many might consider this lazy, others could consider it bias and insulting giving the Alliance an actual Horde race/model with a different color scheme. I definitely don’t think Alliance have it bad with the AR’s, but then again, I’m a huge ren’dorei fan. We need more dark/sinister races, that also maintain that classy Ally status.

What in god’s name are you talking about? Vulpera are just goblins with tails and fur. I have no idea what that has to do with Blood Elves.

Don’t forget that they intentionally removed the best thing about NE animations: the flip jump.

Yes it does.

Blood elves are on the Horde and they are a Horde race.

Deal with it.

Vulpera and Blood elves fit the Horde, they are Horde races.

Vulpera were never Alliance and nothing about them hints Alliance.

And with that being said.

If you want to play Vulpera and Blood elves, the Horde is waiting for you.

If I could play a Draenei Warlock I would switch to Alliance instantly.

There are a lot of things they could do to make ally more interesting.

They just don’t…

What is wrong with this forum that so much fake news is allowed to be spread around and infect people?

Are you saying that Kultirans are clones?

The point is I think I like goblins more. I hope we get gilgoblins. I do have my vulpera mage but I don’t think a lot of xmog looks good for them for there faces.

Yes, WC3 makes it clear that the blood elves wouldn’t have wanted to stick with the Alliance. After all, the Alliance repeatedly failed to protect them from the orc and undead invasions. That’s why it makes perfect sense for them to have joined the faction with the orcs and undead instead.

Wait…

I think the logic train jumped the tracks in the middle there somewhere.
