I have a few characters (not all) that when opening the friends list show online friends’ location as “Unknown”. It shows like this when they are online, when they come online, and never changes. They are in usual places, e.g. Dalaran. I can search them in the who list and see where they are correctly.

I have tried removing all addons, I have relogged completely, I have cleared the Cache folder., but the problem persists.
An example character on my account with the issue is Yogam on Atiesh.

I’m having the same problem. Even reinstalling my battle.net launcher didn’t do the trick.

This is most likely because you are not mutual friends with the person that you have added to your friend’s list.
Grab a second person. Add them to friends list, it will say Unknown.
Tell them to add you. It should now show the location after a bit/you close your friends list and open it again.

Was this an intentional change with 3.4.2? I don’t remember seeing it in the patch notes, and it never required mutual friends until now.
I’m guessing it’s to prevent some form of arena sniping? If so, understandable but unfortunate that it breaks it for everyone who wasn’t using it to snipe.

Don’t think this was an intentional arena change. If it were, why not just have this change take effect in the specific zones where it matters?
