You just don’t like it when the other side gets something fun.
In a nutshell, yes.
While I agree to a point i do feel there was some this xpack. The horde reputation mounts were so good and cool they made recolors random drops just so both sides could have 2 of them. the same was not done for the aillance mounts and you know why? no one wanted a horse but it made sense. All the horde ones are new models besides the pterodactyls and even they are mounts that were a meta achievement.
so yeah faction favoritism may not always be there but it does feel sucky to get a horse when i wanted a blood beast and i need to pay 400k for it on my server…i wish we got a cool sea monster or a wicker mount from drustvar…
Ok, so when Warfronts were first released, horde was up first, and they were able to enter on a fresh 120 with peanut butter for gear and farm it over and over again. After a while, they later changed this to where you need an ilvl requirement (sorry Alliance!). Were the players who geared up this way punished and their gear removed? Of course not.
Now there’s a world boss glitched (you can’t blame Activision, since most of their best devs have gone over to mobile I guess), and those who killed it over and over again for the same reasons as the previous point, are being punished, suspended, and their items removed.
I mean, you don’t have to be a rocket surgeon here OP…maybe “favoritism” is the wrong word, but I’ll gladly take “incompetent developers” any day of the week.
I do not believe that Blizzard sits down in their staff meetings to decide changes for their game and says “Well, we want to keep punishing the Alliance, so let’s do something else cool for the Horde!”. That would be inane. I believe that Blizzard simply set out to do the best ideas they could come up with, mechanically and for the story, and then prioritizes fixing things when they break to what they think is best.
The problem is the way that has shaken out is that, In GENERAL, the Alliance has gotten the short end more often than not. Most of them just in little ways. But it’s been enough that players have noticed, and then each time it happens again it gets railed on way more just because players are now sensitive to it.
One is exploiting and the other is not. That doesn’t make sense to you?
Considering that every devs and their mothers are playing horde exclusively, that Blizzcon is the place where the devs make fun of the Alliance, that we have a 55-45% population ratio favoring the Horde, that all the top pvp and pve guilds are on the Horde side, that pvp is a total mess for the Alliance that bring mercenary mode, a 30% buff, a 370 loot and soon AI bots, why the hell some crazy people would think there’s some kind of favoritism toward the Horde from Blizz.
IIRC the Warfront hotfix was in relatively quick, within a day or so of the scenario being active.
I love how the alliance make it a big deal like if we had a ton of new 120 at this moment… Its was 2 day and only 2 week after the begin of the xpac, most of us didnt even had 120 level alt. Now you have a quest that give you a 370 ilvl item that the horde dont have and you could even do it in a raid for one week…
Then this game is truly doomed.
The Alliance has a Spaceship. A SPACESHIP. That sits, gathering dust, in orbit. This isnt’ a matter of the players being “insensitive”. This is bad writing simply for the “rule of cool”.
Tyrande turned into the Avatar of her GOD. She and Malfurion, no slouch himself, and the leader of the Paladin class hall (cough) were fought to a standstill by ONE trash-talking idiot with a BOW, and two Valk’yr.
This is not a “little way” the Horde has assumed Battleship levels of plot armor.
This is DELIBERATE BAD WRITING.
a claim without factual evidence behind is nothing short of an imaginative claim
Right, they have written themselves in a corner. There is absolutely no reason the Horde should be a challenge, let alone a threat, to the Alliance. But, for story reasons, they have to be. Rather than write a change in the situation… i.e. give the horde more power/resources/ability in lore, which would definitely be seen by Alliance players as proof of favoritism, they just hand wave and dismiss the logical errors.
Yes, the Alliance should be able to walk over and crush the Horde at their convenience. They have a significant numerical, technological, and organizational advantage. This shouldn’t even be seen as a decent challenge for the Alliance.
But, if they suddenly changed that, and gave the Horde what they needed to be able actually challenge the Alliance, the wailing from the Alliance faithful would be deafening. Proof of Horde favoritism.
When they tried to even the leveling experience in Cata, and give both sides about the same amount of zones and leveling areas (which still slightly favors the Alliance) the “Horde Favoritism” cult was born. Because the Horde gained more territory Alliance screamed ‘Unfair’, and haven’t stopped since. Now everything is judged by them under the lense of ‘does it appear to or actually favor the Horde or give them more?’ if yes, Horde Favoritism!!! if No, well, it’s about time the Alliance got a crumb.
So, here we are, Alliance players whine because the clearly militarily superior Alliance is not allowed to simply crush the Horde (which it clearly could) but would also cry if they tried to fix it so the Horde was an actual threat by giving them… anything… but some more plot armor.
Alliance received an ally only quest last expansion having to do with Anduin.
Horde complained.
Horde recurved a horde only quest having to do with Saurfang.
Alliance complained.
Horde was dominating Warmode for the initial part of the expansion and received a “free 10% buff” as alliance complainers suggested.
horde complained when there were not enough alliance in Warmode up until recently.
Alliance received a juicy incentive to hop in & horde complained.
It’s obviously been going back and fourth for sometime now. Both factions are filled with people who just want to be spoon fed and demand the other faction starve to death.
Yeah you’re not looking at rewards or anything thats very factual that goes into this. I like how to glazed over mount rewards and storylines and allied races. in favor of random complaints that always happen.
That’s mainly because the OP is not able to see things from a neutral perspective. So, they are letting their own bias cloud their viewpoint.
The “making Cata even” resulted in having the Horde destroy every Night Elf city in Kalimdor except Auberdine (which Deathwing wiped out) and Teldrassil (which I guess you were waiting until now to blow up). You guys are running out of times that you can genocide our race. Go back to your own worthless planet.
My Horde characters would LOVE some horses.
Besides, you didnt need to pay for the blood beast mount, you chose to. Nothing is stopping you from farming for the mount and saving that 400k.
Yes farming a mount that is lower then 1% drop rate is very equal to getting it as reputation reward for rep you’d be doing anyway.
jokes aside. Like i said there is a reason they didn’t make the horses random drops in alliance zones for horde and like horses or not they are much less unique then hordes. we’ve had horses since classic.
and to add to that this isn’t about liking or disliking the mounts. I do like the new horse models and am very fond of the horse from drustvar. this is about getting 2 mounts in different colors we’ve had for years for all the alliance reps while horde got new models and and the closest thing to a old one is the dino that doesn’t even look like the one from the meta achievement.
that can really impact gameplay for people like me who in fact play to collect mounts/pets and tabards just about.
Just a reminder:
The Horde were given a reason to go to Uldir, the Alliance were not.
The Horde have a personal connection to all the bosses in Battle for Daz’alor, the Alliance do not.
The Horde have won every conflict in the faction war story so far, even the Darkshore “vengeance” scenario.
The Horde have been the focus of two extra cinematic cutscenes that have been added for the first time in an expansion.
The Horde received more unique allied races, and they were easier to unlock.
The Horde received more unique mounts.
The Horde got into Warfronts first (okay, there’s one negative).
The Horde are the entire focus of the 8.1 trailer.
The Horde are the faction played by all the devs.
The Horde got an unprecedented change to their quest line so that they could side with their corpse waifu.
The Horde got the most important Night Elf city in lore, the ability to wipe the Alliance’s Night Elf city off the map, playable Night Elves, Night Elf Sentinels and Night Elf wardens, Night Elf Nightsabers, while the Alliance got told “the Horde is waiting for you”.
The Horde city is the focus of a raid, while the Alliance city only gets a dungeon.
This is just BfA, and isn’t even all of that. Let me know when you want me to go on.
