If you want people to join make sure you have an advertisement/background/info for your guidl please DO not send random blind ginvites to random players since kinda rude …
Since when were you my boss? And you seem to be a horde player, how dare you assume I invited you.
One time I was lvling an alt and had forgotten to turn off ginvites. A random one invited me and I accidentally hit accept. I didn’t gquit only cuz it was an alt I’d never play, I just lvl alts to pass the time(and this was in BFA when we had 120 lvls). A few weeks later when I was lvling, the gm/officer was complaining in gchat asking why no one was talkative and no one did anything. I told them I usually have ginvites turned off cuz I don’t want to join a spam inviting guild, and joining that guild meant that I’d not have to deal with spam invites anymore. Like 3 other people agreed with me and they were salty.
People join guilds for the community(and yes sometimes just the hearth reduced CD) and I immediately lose all interest in a guild when they spam invite/use macros psts.
Rude to who? Usually people like being invited to guilds.
I saw a guy in Trade Chat ask how he could join the guild I am in. He was not talking to me and had no idea I was even online.
I invited him, he excepted, then starting complaining in chat how I never talked to him or anything.
- You did ask and I responded.
- If I had talked to you I would have convinced you to go join a different guild.
The guild is a large one…nearly 1000 characters. Any time of day there are between 3 and 10 players logged in.
They never say anything in chat. We have only RP events and no one talks there either.
For being a RP guild, we sure do not communicate.
BTW I have not seen that player online since he joined the guild 3 weeks ago.
Guild invites can be turned off in the options menu so no one can send you them random or no.
they just do the whisper spam then - it is more annoying
Then block em.
i report them instead because if I have guild invites turned off and I do and they still whisper me they should have known their invite was unwelcome
Blind invites are annoying, but they don’t happen all that often even on Moon Guard, & you can easily just decline & go on with your day. It’s no big deal.
Maybe you get lucky but if I don’t turn off guild invites I’ll get random invites. Even when I have them turned off I’ll get a macroed pst about whatever guild. Advertise the guild in trade, general, or /yell, IDC, but don’t pst me or randomly invite me.
Some people spam guild invites to people in bgs or dungeons. Which is really when it gets annoying. One person did this to me and it got me killed because a giant notification went across my screen I told them they should watch who they are sending it too better, and they yelled at me. Lol imagine saying someone you are inviting is in the wrong when trying to build a community.
I usually look for guildless people in Oribos and have a conversation with them to see if they’re looking for a guild. I start off with a “hi” and wait for them to respond and such. And if they respond I just ask if they’re looking for a guild, that way people don’t get annoyed or feel forced to join.
But yeah, blind invites are annoying. I could just be questing on an alt and I get an invite for some guild that always spams random invites, I don’t get why people do that.
Well if you just pop one open to someone when they are busy then that is wrong. I guess ask first before sending a invite?
Yeah, and they don’t even tell you what the guild is about most of the time, if I am looking for a guild or just curious I usually message them the following: “what is your guild about” I either don’t get a response, copied and pasted response, or some lazy and not well thought out response.
It’s rude to everyone you toss a blind invite to.
The best guilds i have been in were guilds who had someone who whispered me and talked to me like a human being instead of a number like anyone who uses auto invite add-ons do. They then asked nicely if i wanted to join after answering my questions about the guild.
You still get the whisper messages from the auto invite add-ons though.
^This is the right way to do it.
I have literally had THREE different people from the same guild spam it to me in rapid succession in less than one minute in the past. I still got the whispers even though invites were blocked. That’s how i know they were from the same guild. I most certainly did report them.
