"Friendly" Competition

I played WoW from Vanilla up through about BfA. I’m just a few hours into SoD and I’m constantly reminded why I hated Vanilla, and why I ended up maining Hunter and Warlock and other classes that could solo well: The lack of shared nodes and open looting incentivizes people to play like absolute jerks.

I’m not even level 10 and I’ve already had people train mobs on me to take resource nodes or get me killed so they could take the rare elite I was fighting. It completely defeats the purpose of an MMORPG for me. Members of your own faction should not be incentivized to screw you over.

The playerbase clearly can’t be trusted to not play like selfish jerks, which is why later expansions slowly incorporated more and more solutions to mitigate this.

That’s the single biggest thing I wish had been brought back to SoD from future patches. Not Shaman and Warlock tanks. Not class-defining passives. Not new content in old zones. The one thing I wish more than anything for SoD to have are the changes that incentivize cooperation and instead of selfishness.

Someone got me killed instead of partying with me for a rare elite so they could get a white quality cloak and a green quest reward they couldn’t even use. They chose to make me feel like absolute crap for a white cloak and a green to vendor. And the game allowed it. The game rewarded them for making my play time drastically worse.

So if the devs are still deciding what features to add to future SoD patches, please, please, please consider adding some features that discourage that kind of toxic behavior and reward people for working together. I promise you it won’t break the game if you let players group loot all the time.

Now excuse me while I abandon my character and reroll to a class that can’t be sniped when pulling, can survive having mobs trained on them, and can solo rare elites before anyone toxic gets a chance to show up and start griefing.

this wouldnt be a problem if we werent being forced to play classic for new content

Unfortunately Classic players are generally awful human beings. Sorry you had to deal with that.

Honestly surprised no classic andy has come in here to try and rip you a new one and tell you to go back to Retail.

I agree with you though, for what its worth. I have watched people wait for a mob near a node to be tagged because they wanted it. Just make mobs and herb/mining nodes multi-tag. “Oh BuT tHe EcOnOmY!!!1!” Its a fun season, not a super duper serious server. Stow it.

Folks have been beyond great on Lava Lash.

No problems yet on Chaos Bolt, a little bit of rp here and there and we got people that even line up to do some quest. ( as well line skippers) However the good out weigh the bad. Not everyone is a bad guy. Just usually the ones with names that usually end up being reported anyways.

Retail players are infinitely more toxic.

Classic players aren’t different than any other player. People in general are awful. Tbh though, I kind of enjoy the cut throat nature of vanilla.

Isnt it possible someone was running for thier lives and came upon you? Not malice but more Mr. Bean.

Its a game. If you are sent reeling into a depression because you got trained, maybe try something else.

nah its the parasocial wierdos who follow the streamers around. thats the real issue

Yeah the tagging mechanic is something I wanted to see changed for this mode.

The fact some runes require you to farm items or spend gold in order to summon a mob, only for that mob tag to be stolen…

Incredibly frustrating.
Actually incentivized griefing.

Why farm the mats or gold to summon a mob when you can just steal it from someone who did.
