I remember waking up on Saturday mornings to watch cartoons. Always watched Bugs Bunny, TMNT and a few others. We didn’t have cable, so it was limited. Not a cartoon, but I always watched WMAC Masters, as well.

I found out about the comic in high school. A friend found a copy of that version where all the comics are in one book while he was in detention. We didn’t know who Jhonen was and we both thought “Hey this is cool it kinda looks like invader zim”
So I took it home and read it. And of course my grandma had to be a dang snoop. She got so triggered she yelled at me to return it.
Wellllllllllllll I waited til my birthday since I knew I’d get birthday money. Then I went to a comic shop and bought my own copies of each comic and the big book version. Pity my copy of the big version has a lot of loose pages. But Grandma couldn’t get rid of them because I paid for them with my own money.

I just watched it for the first time.
I mean… yeah, that was definitely Japanese. Lol. A bunch of dudes in military uniforms fighting an evil wizard who summoned a bunch of aliens and Gundams. Uhh… sure, that’s definitely what I think of when I think of the X-Men, lol.
My fav page is where he just annihilates everyone in a coffee shop all on one page. Its very well done. Always kinda wanted to get that page as a tattoo around one of my shins. Never got around to it
Japanese intro for x-men makes it out to be more awesome than it appears. Freaking magneto summoning lovecraftion tentacles lol

Yeah I remember when the show premiered and just feeling oddly enthralled by the dark vibes. Or how sharp a lot of things looked. I don’t mean image quality sharp. I mean pointy sharp.
The creator of Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss was also very inspired by Jhonens artwork and it shows in some of the skinny designs. So its nice to see some of his legacy on us kids lol
