Anyone have any guesses if a fresh server will just be a dead server in a few months. Thinking about playing on one but worried it will just die a few month in. What do the forum readers think?
I think there are around 90+ members forming leveling and raid groups for at least one guild I know of that is planning on rolling fresh, and it’s looking like it’ll be a pretty good time:
Yes. Its happened with every new server in the original game as well as with most reroll efforts on dead servers. It never lasts. It might linger on with a few too stubborn to give up, but it wont be enough to have a healthy server pop.
There will always be that one dude whos goal is to be the last man on the server
They will last for at least a year man.

for like a handful of weeks. Once the 1-2 major guilds implode due to people flaking as they always do, itll be downhill. Same as with all the other small pop realms. OFC, one or two guilds might be too stubborn to give up so maybe if that sort of masochistic experience is what you want, you can do that.
Depends on whether you like being smothered by certain types of players on a mega-server, or can ultimately be happy on a low-med population server in a guild that matches your play values.

Doesn’t sound like you’ll be playing there. Not sure why you’d want to be so negative over something that has nothing to do with you personally.
Which will implode sooner or later as people move on, RL gets on the way and recruitment pool for replacements dry up.
New servers and reroll projects are nothing new, and they’ve never been succesful.
So don’t expect it to be as lively as week 1. Everyone who is going to join is going to join week 1. After a week I’d imagine a 10-20% drop of people who wanted to be with the fresh crowd (or even just the biggest influx of players at 1 time) like I want to level on one for a bit for the fun of everyone doing something around me but not to actually play on.
You will get another 10% drop off by time wrath launches. These will be players who will still be raiding and playing with their guild. Most players have guilds they are somewhat invested in and will hop back in with them at launch. From here good luck because server population won’t grow much till possibly transfers are allowed.
Biggest problem to fresh id bet is guilds being something like 70/30 for staying vs going and not many people will actually go I’d imagine.
It’ll be an exhilarating 8 weeks for you guys. The long haul is 2 months long
