do you think they will release fresh realms every year?

If Classic needs to have more realms added (unlikely) they will add more.
In original Classic as it got into TBC era the population started to climb quite quickly requiring extra realms. Classic as it won’t expand likely will go lower in population over time not higher.

If private servers are any indication, I kind of hope it doesn’t become a regular occurrence that they add new realms.

The whole “FRESH” mentality makes older servers ghost towns.

Fresh realms should only be released when there’s a need for them. Once the population is stable, there won’t be a need for anymore until expansions. It’s not like classic is going to keep growing forever and need ever more realms. Most players will not like classic these days, finding it too grindy or difficult. You’re going to see thousands of players come in, then drop off in <6 months. You lose chunks of players with each raid tier. Over half will not stick around for Naxx. The AQ 40/Cthun area seem to be where most of the drop off happens, from my experiences. But plenty just do T1 content, then say “good enough for me, goodbye.”

Nah, they won’t add fresh realms. They’ll reset the old ones, instead.

One thing to note about the whole “FRESH” P server mentality that started was mostly because the servers they changed to would die after BWL and have a huge content stagnation.

Indeed. Not everyone is going to be the kind of hardcore raider that fights C’thun or ventures into Naxxramas. Without resets, or new content, stagnation sets in with the content drought.

There’s no point for Blizzard. While I get that some people would like it, Blizzard wants realms that people can come back to at any time and play on. They don’t want to make even greater ghost towns than they’ll already have 10 years in.

Not true. Check the current Lights hope. Their older server has 2X the population as their new one.

They would be foolish for releasing fresh realms every year. Maybe once every 3 years.

It depend, how fast Blizzard will release the content ?

They can make it last longer if they don’t release the content too fast.

Their newest server isn’t a normal server, since it’s accelerated to account for how short lived it’s going to be.

and their oldest server barely has any people on it despite it being a merging of multiple servers. I’ve tried playing on that server.

Fresh servers are like a pserver meme.

For the past several years the pserver community has been moving around server to server not so much for the “fresh” but because every pserver promises to be a better and more accurate representation of Vanilla then their competitors and even themselves.

Fresh servers in Classic will just be rolling an alt.

Very much doubt it, the whole idea of constant ‘fresh’ servers is pretty antithetical to the whole idea of an MMO
