Fresh boost survival hunter looking for advice

I’m playing around with a new 110 dwarven survival hunter but haven’t applied a boost yet. Want to make sure I like it first. Questions:

  1. What are some good enchantments to look for/get? I’ve got another character that is working on enchanting and I’m looking for good ones for all items I can enchant. If they cost a million gold don’t bother. I’m not looking for the most expensive. Just some reasonably priced enchants to get. Especially if they are usable for low level toons as well. I have a lot of alts.

  2. Where can I get a good pet with leech?

  3. Does it matter what order you unlock the allied races? Is there a specific order required? Like LD & VE came out first, do I need to unlock them before I can unlock the DI dwarves & Kul Tiran? Same with the horde side as well. I’m working on them also finally.

  4. Are there any professions really worth taking besides enchanting? I have a tailor as well as low level toons for some of the other professions. Anything worth taking at the higher levels? I know they aren’t really that great any more but just wondering if there’s ANYTHING worth looking into.

  5. Any thoughts/advice you care to offer for any reason?

I don’t do pvp and I’ve never tried any battlegrounds do to my lack of experience and fear of royally screwing my team because of it. I’ve never done any dungeons above level 30 that I recall.

Thanks for your time. It is much appreciated

The best advice you will ever get regarding survival hunter is Don’t Play as Survival Hunter.

Why not? I love it! What do you find wrong with it?

It is a melee spec in a ranged class that replaced a ranged spec.

  1. Haste is the best stat for Survival Hunters, so get enchants that give Haste.

  2. All Ferocity pets have leech. Just get one you like the look of. You can browse through all the pets on a website called petopia. For maximum utility get a bat or a nether ray, since they can also dispel enemies.

  3. All allied races are independent from each other. You don’t need to unlock one first or anything like that.

  4. Enchanting is actually not a very good profession. It takes too many mats so it’s very slow to level and it’s not very cost-effective. Just buying enchants is easy and cheap. Herbalism+Alchemy is pretty good, Skinning+Leatherworking is nice since it can craft mail gear, Mining+Engineering is also pretty good.

Hi. Icy-veins and Petopia will help a lot with info too.

  1. Haste. High haste is a good rotation. Attack speed is also a good wep enchant.
  2. Any Ferocity pet. For pve I use a cat.
  3. Nope. You can unlock “grind” any allied race in any order. You just need to unlock that content.
  4. I don’t really do crafting. Both alchemy or engineering are both good profession though.
  5. Don’t listen to Surv hate. Many still cry…my advice is find a good and friendly guild who don’t care what you play and have fun.

I know Surv decent well. It my main spec. So some small tips: Surv is a dot class but you have good burst. Without your pet, you are useless. Have one each of three pet spec Ferocity, Cunning, Tenacity on you.
For pvp use a Tenacity or Cunning.

Mongoose Bite loves high levels of Haste so it you drop down below 15% Tip of the Spear is not a bad choice. I prefer Guerrilla Tactics and Wildfire Infusion. Camouflage is useful as it Pathfinding. Use Heirlooms and Warmode for the XP buffs.

  1. Grab Haste, Weapon Dps>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Haste>>>Crit/Vers>>Mastery>>>>>Agi (the higher the ilvl and the more haste you have the more valuable the stat becomes) - Quick Navigation is the weapon enchant your looking for.
  2. Nether ray, second option is Crane, but nether ray will be your go to most of the time in pve content - Raptor for Pvp
  3. Yeah do these whenever, you should get them over time as you just progress through the game.
  4. As a main character you probably want double crafting professions IF you have a gatherer alt at max lvl as well. Best options for raiding are Leatherworking >/Jewelcrafting, Engi for mythic+ content. I’d probably recommend skinning plus leatherworking.
  5. Check out #survival in the Trueshot lodge discord server if you run into any problems. Plenty of people happy to help in there.
