Is there anything I can do solo for gear? I get maybe an hour an evening to do group content. The rest of the time, real life constraints have me playing solo. My character just hit 60 and wondering what I can do solo to help my character progress.

With dungeons Only you can get t2 and t1 wich is in some case the best pieces for some spec and class ingame, so imagine if you get a guild and get carried aswell
mix your set bonus for what you are going to use it for
Most of the reward structure in classic is group based, to be honest.
Incursions you can do “solo” and just join the group/raid that is there tagging mobs so you can roll on the drops. You can gather necrotic runes and buy the argent dawn gloves. You can gather insignia of the dawn/crusader to buy the argent dawn armaments, as well.
Beyond that your going to have to run dungeons to get reals to buy T1 and T2 gear tokens. Or run the raids themselves.

There are three incursions right next to the eastern plaguelands flight path that usually have a raid going. Join the raid and follow them around as they hop from incursion to incursion.
Make sure you get the “never at rest” quest and turn it in after each heart of doom you get, though. You will get remnants of valor which you can turn in for argent dawn tokens, which you can exchange for a lot of stuff including the powerful tier set shoulder enchants.
Yes, besides invasions:
-Check high level quests for any really strong blue items. Tyrion Fordring quest line comes to mind. Try knocking out what you can on attunes for when you do have time for a group.
-farm gold. Hit the mines, get a skinning knife or a herb bag. Or try finding a niche that no one else is filling. Here’s one for you: fused wiring. Drops off lvl 37 shredder mobs in STV. Used to make single use repair bots for raids. Sells for about 33g a piece last I checked. Use that gold to buy mats for sanctified frost res gear if you want to go into naxx. Alternatively buy mats for the AQ qiraji backs, the boe trinkets, the thorns sets, other epic boe sets, etc.
-Que for bgs rank while solo. Less advisable if no interest in pvp. Honestly you’re better off looking for a quick dungeon/thunderaan/ony group if your time is limited. I do see people get upset if you’re not at least rocking the tier 1 real gear into a bg.
I do think it would be cool if they added inefficient ways to acquire reals for solo players (so it still encourages group play but is a relief valve for anyone who is restricted). This isnt a perfect example but maybe making that random daily azshara quest by the beach where you fight waves of naga give 1 real. Or even making the embers from the BRE dailies have a very inefficient exchange rate to reals.
Just put the time into pvping. Just do AB over and over again. The rank 10 set is pretty solid and at rank 11 you can buy a fast mount for ~90g. Google “classic honor calculator” or get the ranker addon so you know how much honor you need each week to meet the next threshold.
