Frequent "Not enough memory" crashes

Hey there.

For the last couple of weeks I have been having a LOT of Not enough memory crashes, minimum once per 2 hour session.

I know I need to help out by posting some logs and whatnot, but I’m not sure what information you guys need to be able to assist. Could you please let me know so we can get the troubleshooting party started?

Much love <3

Do you get any kind of noticeable reactions from the game client before it happens, like lag, FPS loss, freezing?

If you have indications it is going to happen, I would try to take a look at your Task Manager > Performance, and see how much of your memory is being utilized at that point.

You might be able to try and go to your Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer, if your computer is hitting certain thresholds or hitting critical events, you should find something in there. I don’t have WoW on this computer, but it might be under the Windows Logs or Applications and Services Logs.

It might be worth a shot to check some of that out, until you get a blue response.

Thanks Sebaceouss!

I don’t get any indicators at all, running and jumping and casting then lock and crash. Completely out of the blue. Super weird.

I’ve got a bunch of Error flags in the Event Viewer like you suggested, a bunch for OBS (which I’m also having issues with and have posted on their forums for assistance) but only one for WoW during yesterdays stream, found it under Windows Logs > Application. I also found a loooooot of Warnings under Windows Logs > System for low virtual memory conditions, which seems to be the exact description of what I’m looking for, right? Haha…

So, given I have no idea how to read or action these messages, what would you suggest I do next? Happy to post logs or screenshots or copy paste sections, anything I can do to help you help me

Thanks again for the help Sebaceouss, I really appreciate it.

No worries!

I will be honest, I know a lot less about computers than I do networks. Really, what I am finding online about issues similar to yours is related to the “paging file size.” I am not sure if or how exactly you might start getting this unless something changed recently on your computer, as far as hardware/software or possibly a configuration change.

I would check out that link, it seems to be very similar to what issues you’re experiencing. The comments provide a little basic understanding of what is going on, as well as how to fix it. The original poster came across a hurdle trying to solve his issue, and edited with a work around to that, too.

If you want a more thorough explanation towards exactly what might be going on and the fix, Microsoft has a document for that:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2860880/how-to-determine-the-appropriate-page-file-size-for-64-bit-versions-of?ranMID=24542&ranEAID=kXQk6*ivFEQ&ranSiteID=kXQk6.ivFEQ-xPKehW8cG__nZTuMN5Ov9A&epi=kXQk6.ivFEQ-xPKehW8cG__nZTuMN5Ov9A&irgwc=1&OCID=AID2000142_aff_7593_1243925&tduid=(ir__1a2pluu90kyklyigebaezkjgc32xjavoskq9m1vm00)(7593)(1243925)(kXQk6.ivFEQ-xPKehW8cG__nZTuMN5Ov9A)()&irclickid=_1a2pluu90kyklyigebaezkjgc32xjavoskq9m1vm00

I’d be curious to see if this fixes your issue, but I still find it odd that if nothing has changed recently you would start experiencing this. I think at the end of the day it seems like somehow this file/setting was changed or your computer might have an underlying issue.

I am not sure if you use any computer optimization products, such as iolo System Mechanic, but it might be worth something to look/invest into.

Hope this helps!

Edit: Also, I am not sure if you have tried, but it might also be worth while trying to uninstall, and install WoW again. It is a bit of a time consuming process, but sometimes applications and programs can get corrupted in minor ways, and a reinstall can be all it takes to fix it.
