Found the following in the Hotfix.log file. I included only the last mob entry but I do believe that this is the source of the lag. Definitely on Blizz side of things.

Getting this as well, I was worried my computer was having an issue but I tried it on a second PC and the freezing still happens
Hopefully this will be fixed soon, it’s really annoying with the constant freezes when doing dailies/turning in quests and/or looting “quest” chests/objectives (like the hidden treasures around Nazjatar)
I’m also experiencing freezes on every quest turn in. It’s also happening whenever I receive large amounts of XP, like killing a rare or opening a treasure chest.
It sucks that it’s taking this long for a fix… it’s so frustrating to quest! come on blizz!
Still freezing, no hotfix yet!
Yeah, thats why the work around involves to put that file on read only before launching the game.
Just got a small patch. It looks like they attempted to fix the problem, but the freeze is only shortened, but not eliminated.
I’m having the same problem, freezing for a couple seconds each time I turn in a quest, like my frame rate is suddenly dropping from 75 to 0.
Same, just reporting in. But i guess the problem is when some kind of sound (Npc’s speach or so) plays out.
Well, where over the weekend it seemed like it was improving slightly, today it seems worse. Back to a solid freeze for a second on quest turn in or quest/achievement related mob kill or opening a chest, and I can hear my processor chugging every time it happens.
Edit: a hot fix went through for me last night, seemed to go back to the weekend’s performance, just an FPS drop rather than a hard freeze.
A reminder folks that there is a temporary fix for this issue as detailed above. If this is affecting you, feel free to use that until Blizzard rolls out a proper hotfix.
As of re-set today, still not fixed.

Just checking in with the same problem, so whatever activision is doing better get their devs working on it, a bug like this going on for a week is a problem. Disappointing.

Altering game files is against the TOS…
I have been killing the MoP/WoD world bosses and still getting the freezing that questers are getting.
There was a blue post about that
No official fix yet so I’m not changing anything until that
As of today this is still an issue / bug … watch they will fix the auto completed emissaries today … but this lag bug will be with us for weeks!

This cannot be that hard to fix. Please do something.
