Hi all - I have been dealing with performance stutters during combat (and only during combat). This happens mostly in arena and dungeons, during high aoe combat. My game will freeze for 10-15 seconds, but I can still hear whats going on. Everything else on my PC does not freeze, as I can go to my other monitor and use my PC freely, no issues.
After about 15 seconds, I am able to play again. Sometimes once I can play again, the world looks really messed up - like very basic or all green for a split second, then all is good.
I have tried basically everything. I have been running no addons, no combat logging, basically nothing else running on my pc. I have also replaced multiple parts of my PC: CPU, GPU, PSU, RAM. I have also reinstalled wow, reinstalled windows, clean installed graphics drivers, and moved wow to a few different drives. Seemingly, nothing has fixed the issue.
When you reinstalled, did you start without addons? Some of the addon managers save your settings and reinstall everything after a fresh WoW reinstall.
Have you run any connection tests when this is happening?
I installed them again after some time - I am 99.9% sure its not a connection issue, as I am in discord calls, watching streams, etc at the times this is happening with no delay. The entire game freezes up, not walking in place or anything
That’s like saying the road to your grocery store has no traffic so all roads must have no traffic—connections don’t work like that either. Blizzard servers aren’t hosted in the same building as Discord, streams, etc. You would need to run a connection test to see what the route shows.
I know you also mentioned replacing hardware, which is why the connection problem seems most likely. However, if you didn’t replace the mobo, maybe that’s contributing to it.
Yeah, I can see your point - I can try to monitor that, but I don’t think running some tracert will be very helpful as this happens quite sporadically, and from an initial run I did it seemed fine. I did replace the mobo as well. I am going to attempt to play the game with no addons and as bare as possible to see if that at least lessens it.
That’s why you run the tests Blizz suggests in the sticky threads instead: WinMTR and PingPlotter. They gather data overtime and you can easily restart them every few minutes if no issue popped up.
