baseline classic wow is a dead game and its just sad to see many reasons and bad decisions that we got here that we can continue to debate but the fact is we are now here
just looking forward as to what next i think FTP would be so good for the community
and create so much hype and goodwill! classic FTP would get players back in to wow and push interest in to the current game

This is actually a good idea as long as ftp players cant trade, mail, or use the AH, or are limited to other ftp players.
But it wonât happen, because goldfarmers would use it as free farm time, then pay one month of sub and cashout.
Youâd have to severely limit profs, bank slots and add an extra tight gold cap.
That, and blizz loses the insta-70 boosts bought by the bots we all know they let run rampant.
Would be good for the game?
300% yes
Could be good long term?
Maybe
Is Tencent/Activision the videogame equivalent of a Fracking company mining, squeezing and destroying everything in their wake for the sake of fast money?
You tell me, Iâm no fracking expert.
Hmm. You think bots are a problem now?
Iâd support this if it meant putting more people into the lower level zones, low level bgs, etc. The 15 a month price for a 15 year old game does turn a lot of people off whoâd otherwise try it out.

Classic is already free.
Youâre paying for Retail.
Classic is just a âbonus itemâ you get access to with that fee.
How is it free if you have to pay for retail?
Retail is free, you just have to give blizzard $15 every month. Makes as much sense.

it is free if you can farm 200k or so gold on your retail main every month.
That wouldnât be free either because youâre still paying with your time by farming the gold.

âplaying the gameâ is hardly âpaying with your timeâ.
Some of you have no idea what free is. Free meaning you give nothing whatsoever to get it.
You donât give money, you donât give gold, you donât give anything.

why would they - or anyone - create that? sounds like a revenue loss.
Yes it does. They likely never would. WoW servers cost money to run, they have staff to pay and shareholders that want a return on their investment.
So yeah, they arenât likely to give people classic for free. Plus we all know what would happen if they did in regards to gold farmers.

Noting that Retail has F2P up until level 20 (with trade and comms limitations), I am a little surprised Classic doesnât do anything similar.
Iâve had many a friend who probably would have played and enjoyed Classic but didnât want to spend the initial $20.00 on something they werenât sold on.
In free to play games thereâs usually some kind of cash shop, ideally just for cosmetics. A business has to make money somehow.
I donât know, I can see the classic player base having major issues with a shop, even if itâs just for cosmetics. âDERP WE MUST EARN EVERYTHING IN GAME!!!111oneâ
dungeon passes.
cash shop-only enchants.
