Free subs for long term players

I feel like WoW has been around long enough, especially now with most income coming from store rather than sub, blizzard should offer players who have over 10 or 15 years worth of sub time bought on their account free sub. I can’t imagine that’s much of the player base anymore and would just be nice gesture for their loyal players.

if not free sub, i get that might be too far, would be cool if they did have some sort of loyalty system that gives you mounts/pets/titles at very least in game for being long time sub.

WoW is making more now than ever with a fraction of the amount of subs it used to have, do the math.

If wow has 1,000,000 players paying $14.95 a month that’s $14.95m a month. There would have to be some pretty significant store purchases going on where players are spending $15m+ a month on cash shop purchases.

I’m gonna have to ask for some paperwork friendo

I mean if they’ve got you for 15 years you’re probably willing to pay for the next ten.

The fraction is around half the peak (at least based on launch data that is a low end estimate) with sub income probably closer to the high points due to the wow token being a fake price increase.

sure I’ll take a free sub, are we getting subway quiznos or jimmy johns?

mobile gaming, sure you’d lose 15 a month and yes they’d lose money overall, but the whale who play buying tokens out butt MORE than make up for difference. it would undoubtedly be a lose cause you could have sub AND whale money but whale money is so much more than sub money it really is.

main quote of note in article " Looking at average revenue per user, it grew from $13.50 in 2016 to $21.00 in 2018. It will also likely decline to $19.40 in 2019 due to the World of Warcraft impact, before rising to $22 levels by 2021, in our view."

I mean, even if he’s right it’s still $13-15 a month per account that pays a sub (depending on the length) and $20 for every token sold. It’s not exactly chump change.

No. And yeah I’ve played since… I don’t know… two weeks after launch? Big whoopie. My crap smells the same as everyone else’s, and I’d rather Pay my own way. It’s called being an adult.

It’s an extremely minimal amount.

That’s what I’m saying, I don’t think shop purchases are beating sub costs.

March 2015 token introduced
August 2016 Legion launched
-New node changes came with Legion
-More bots = more accounts = more money for Blizz

I’ll be interested in seeing the 2020-2022 numbers

I am, but whatever you say Bub.

I still remember picking it up, I was looking at bauldurs gate, and WoW. In all honesty it came down to the fact wow had a cooler cover.

game basically IS free 2 play…

I havent paid a $ sub in years as u can easily make the $ to buy a token every month.

u can run normal skyreach in 3-4min (based on class) and thats basically 250 a run.
10 times b4 u cant reset it anymore for hour or so.

2,500G a character in 30~min.
75k in 30days JUST doing that…on 1 character.

WQ rewards etc all add up to more.

yea like I said token/store basically makes half their income now, and if you only discount like what the 10% of players who have played that long it won’t stop bobby from buying that 2nd yacht

Yeah I don’t think so :man_shrugging:
