So I have a pretty decent computer, I do photo and video editing for a living, and since the patch I went from great fps (I don’t even know I ran on max setting) to about 10fps and having to run on reduced settings. What is that about?
This is called prepatch/update problems. It usually happens. Stuff isn’t running as smoothly as it should as it probably needs some fixes, plus there’s more people on than usual so that doesn’t help the servers run smoothly. It will get sorted out, I hope, before DF launch.
Also yes, it’s been happening to me too. I get low frame rates, fps drops, stuttering, lag, and long loading screens.
Same here, had steady 60fps before patch but now I am having drops to like 20 FPS even on lower settings, I will give it some time, they might need to release some more patches.
I am also having issues, I am trying to scan and repair WoW now.
No issues here other then seeing the change from 10 to 5 when I logged in and checked graphic settings.
Bumped back to 10 and everything was working fine running around Oribos.
Oh running a 1070 on an older driver, which also works fine in beta.
Massive frame drops in populated areas. It’s the norm honestly.
There’s a pretty big thread in customer support over fps drops and stuttering since prepatch I’m sure it will be fixed soon.
there’s a small chance this helps anyone, but disabling world quest tracker gave me about 40fps. i’m using weak auras, vuhdo, omnicc, bigwigs, littlewigs, and details atm. they say elv works if you fresh install, but i haven’t messed with it yet. all my settings are max
I disabled all addons and it popped back up to 60 which is where I lock it so I’m hoping some of it is just outdated addons too.
This is caused by broken addons that you left enabled. Broken addons throw or hang up on errors that are constantly being produced, but since blizzard doesn’t allow every error to come through, they are just cycling, over and over, in the background.
great to hear! If you have a decent computer, I’d uncheck the FPS limiter and let the FPS hit its maximum ceiling. 60 fps cap is kind of low.
I’m not using any addons and my client performance went from rock solid to stuttery mess this patch. Is rough.
i figured out my addons were causing my issue for the most part. still getting slight drops in populated areas and during gameplay.
I’m watching a stream and they had the same issue. It was actually something to do with nvidia geforce experience. Uninstalled it or some such and it resolved.
I’m keeping 60FPS but still lagging out at times. I got this PC May 2021, it’s fairly decent i7-11700k, 1660Ti, 16GB ram, SSD. Yet it seems to be acting weird in WoW since patch.
It’s actually not. This is a prepatch issue. The problems persist even after a fresh install with no add-ons.
If you don’t believe me feel free to check the tech support forums.
Mine is spiking all over the place. not just in Oribos. Going from 160 to 90 to 120 to 90 so on.
Try disabling all addons. It’s not uncommon for addons to break in a way that tanks FPS even on beefy machines. People don’t think about them much but they’re software too and can be just as broken and buggy as the game itself (sometimes moreso, since they’re largely written by amateurs who don’t have a good idea of how to write efficient code).
Perhaps emergency maintenance will fix it.
I go from over 100 fps to a slideshow in populated areas now.
