Frame Rate low on High End PC

When I start wow, the framerate goes to something like 10 fps. If I alt tab and let it run in the background it runs normally, but as soon as click back into the game window, the frame rate drops again. Yesterday it was fine. I tried running Buldar’s Gate III on high graphical settings, and it runs fine.

I thought it could be NVIDIA’s new driver update, so I rolled back to an older version, and that didn’t fix it. It might have something to do with the pre-release content I downloaded, but I can’t be sure of that.

Anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions on how I can fix this?

Solved: somehow max foreground fps got switched on. Don’t know how that happened, but glad to say that’s all it was.

It’s a known issue with Nvidia’s Geforce Experience app. When used and enabled, the app will automatically configure games for you with “optimal” settings for your system. Like it will automatically reconfigure your config.wtf file for WoW. The problem is that they seem to STILL be screwing up the settings for max foreground and max background. It will set the foreground max to 8, which is supposed to be the background max.

Report it to Nvidia and maybe they’ll eventually fix it. It’s been an issue on and off for at least a couple years that I know of.
