Frame drops during M+ and Raid despite hardware

As title says, i’m getting a noticeable amount of frame drops during M+ and Raid, particularly when there’s multiple mobs on the screen. Now I know that’s expected but my hardware should not have such drastic dips.

9800X3D, 64 GB RAM, 4080 Super, WoW installed on an M.2 Drive, all on a 1440p screen with settings min-maxed based on numerous reputable YouTube guides (i.e. Quazi, etc…).

I get anywhere from 200-300+ FPS out of combat and in open world which to be honest has never been an issue. During more intensive pulls it can range wildly from 100 to 200 (which can be quite jarring on a 160 Hz monitor), and it is definitely a noticeable stutter. Hardware temps are fine (60 C degrees on both CPU and GPU). I even have Process Lasso setup to ensure WoW is always at prioritized affinity.

I do run addons, no ElvUI.
Weakauras, Plater, Bartender4, Details (set to update bars slow as opposed to real-time).

Yet this does not explain the frame dips I’m getting. I also had an issue where having RivaTuner Statistics Server would WoW and only WoW to freeze for 5 to 10 seconds. I solved that by just never using it to accurately monitor my FPS highs lows 1% and 0.1%…

Am I missing something here? Is my mistake of having an intel-xmp focused RAM (64 gb) instead of the Ryzen specific ram profile really the reason? I dont notice these kinds of dips on other games, only WoW. And I did do a fresh install of WoW (copied over addons folder though), deleted elvui and went “default”.

You’re making your troubleshooting efforts even harder by not trying WoW with none of these third-party apps installed. If you back everything up, then perform a UI reset, including the CVAR step, then you can start worrying about hardware problems.

Additionally, if you’re running the game on graphics setting 10, your CPU’s single-thread rating (what WoW relies on) isn’t in the top rankings, which could cause frame loss.

There’s zero chance you’re noticing 100-200fps as a stutter.

oh its possible. gsync is great but it doesnt like being too far from monitor’s native fps.
my 144hz feels terrible when it goes under 100fps , literal stutters.

like 90 fps on my gsync 144hz feels worse than 60fps on my 60hz does.

if i can keep it above 100 it’s great though.
