Good morning. I am losing 100 fps roughly on Sanctum fights recently, all the way down to 30 fps. I disabled my addons, and it did not improve. I have the most recent NVidia and Windows updates. Here is my dxdiag.
Hi Slade
I took a look through the DXDiag report. Nothing stands out there - usual things we see in the Error reporting. You mention disabling addons - you may be on the right track there. Problem with addons is they still pseudo-load when disabled.
What you might try is a full UI reset - then only install addons you absolutely need to play. Really best not to install any until you test.
Resetting the WoW User Interface - Blizzard Support (battle.net)
You can return to your old addon configurations afterwards. Remove the OLD from the previous WTF and Interface folders then delete the new folders launcher installed.
This could be heat related as well. Let’s test that:
Download HWMonitor here:
Free download is along the left side of page - called “Setup - English”
Open it on desktop - go play for a few minutes fight some mobs then tab out. Take a screenshot of the tool. Scroll down on tool to get the rest of the outputs then take another screenshot.
Upload those to Imgur or a similar site. I use http://postimages.org/
(Remove the beginning of the URL link to post on the forum - the http portion should work - or paste the link in chatbox then highlight it - click the preformatted text button along top of chat box - looks like this </>)
is your computer set to high performance? (control panel > all control panel items > power options). if high performance is not an option you need to click on create a power plan. adjust sum in game setting to increase FPS performance (mouse over to see what the setting does)
Eel has a good suggestion there Slade. Let’s set the power up in the Nvidia control panel as well.
Open the NVidia Control Panel and select “Manage 3D settings”. Midway down the list you will see is a setting called Power Management Mode. Change that from Optimal to Prefer Maximum Performance. Apply changes.
I appreciate the tips so much; thank you! Tratt confirming that the dxdiag checked out took a load off my mind. I blew light dust out of the machine, updated weakaura strings, deleted a few addons I wasn’t using anymore, and changed that NVidia 3D setting to Maximum Performance. I’m getting more open world fps now…about 20 to be exact. Gonna hold off on a UI reset for now and use that as a last resort. Hopefully next raid night goes much better. Thanks again!
Did you change the Windows power profile setting that Eel suggested? I would hit that up as well.
