FPS Drops When Steering With Mouse

No matter what I do it I drop to 140 FPS when using my mouse to steer my character, I’ve seen some old topics about changing the polling rate but that doesn’t seem to do anything, it also seems like they removed the hardware cursor setting at some point.

For reference here’s my PC specs and the mouse is a Logitech G502 Plus X;

AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D
64GB DDR5 6000MHz
Asus Astral 5090 LC OC Edition
WD Black SN8100 NVMe (WoW is on a different drive then OS)
Windows 11 Pro

Could be a polling rate compatibility issue with the motherboard, the port it’s plugged into, the drivers for the mouse, or a number of other things. Troubleshooting peripherals is a bit beyond the scope of this forum. What did Logitech say?

Hmm, so I did some further troubleshooting and oddly enough it only happens when Discord is open – doesn’t matter if I’m connected to a channel or anything, overlay is turned off, even tried uninstalling their helper, but nope, still get the drop. Once Discord is closed viola, everything works normal and I can steer with my mouse without any issue. So far I haven’t found any other application that causes such an issue, and I haven’t noticed this in any other games, but will have to test further.

Try turning off hardware acceleration in Discord.

Got it figured out!
So I noticed there was a bit of a delay, and the fps drops when using the mouse didn’t happen until Discord registered I was playing WoW, so I found where you disable this in Discord (Settings > Registered Games > Click the Eye icon to turn off) and once disabled this immediately resolved the issue. Not sure what it is with the detection, as the overlay is turned on and it shouldn’t be interacting with WoW or anything, but happy to have finally found the solution.

Thanks for your help Elocin!
