FPS Drops in Epic BGs

Hey all,

I am unsure why my FPS drops to single digits while in Epic BG fights. If it’s a full 40v40? My WoW will flat out crash. If it’s 20 v 20, it will just freeze, and unfreeze, and FPS down to 1 or lower.
Lower, like 10 v 10, it’ll just be constant freezing and unfreezing, barely playable.

I am a little confused as to why this is occuring. I have a pretty solid computer. My FPS in raids and else where stays between 70-130. Arenas is always fine too.

My Graphics Quality is at 5, which is much lower than what GetForce Experience suggests and WoW suggests for my machine. Do I need to make it even lower for BGs?

I have WoW on DX12
Full Screen (Windowed)

My comp is an ideacentre Y710 Cube -15ISH
CPU: I7 - 6700 3.4 GHz
SSD/HHD (Wow is installed/runs on the SSD)
16 GB RAM
OS: Windows 10

Chip Type: GeForce GTX 1070
DAC Type: Integrated RAMDAC

Monitor is 29" LED
21:9 aspect ratio
2560 x 1080 at 75 Hz

My Addons are:
DBM
Gladius
Raider IO
AdvancedInterfaceOptions
Azerite Tooltip
Button Forge
ClassTimer
Doom CooldownPulse
GladiatorioSA2
GTFO
HHTD
Keystone Roll Call
KUI Nameplates
Leatrix Plus
OmniBar
Pawn
SimulationCraft
Skada
TellMeWhen
DejaCharacterStats

Any tips or advice anyone could give me are greatly appreciated! Thanks

There are some addons in that list that could cause FPS drops

Raider IO Could be attempting to gather everyone’s score all at once, causing massive FPS drops

AdvancedInterfaceOptions has been known to cause odd FPS drops, not sure if that’s fixed yet or not but it made epic BGs VERY laggy for me

Skada is trying to record 40 people’s DPS all at once and could cause some FPS lag

I’d turn off all addons then go into a quick BG to see if your FPS is fixed.

Hi Sunoco

Panhu has some good advice there. We should take a look at a DXDiag report as well.

The second section of page has DXDiag report instructions - *we don’t require the MSinfo report.

That will be a wall of text. If you have issues pasting on the Forum here go ahead and put it up on pastebin.com Provide the link code portion of the URL - example below.

I am going to try the suggestion above as well. I think this pastebin should work? I can post the MSinfo too if its needed.

Hey there Sunoco,

This does sound like it’s most likely an addon issue, since it’s only occurring in PvP and not in raids. If disabling the addons does not help you might want to try resetting the user interface and then giving it another test.

One other thing that comes to mind would be to check your temperatures. Looks like the Lenovo Y710 Cube is a smaller form-factor so heat could be an issue if it’s not getting proper airflow.

Does it feel like FPS drops more and more until it halts?

I have been experiencing a similar problem intermittently since Legion. It would happen once in a blue moon without any triggers which makes me think that it’s an edge case bug in some of the addons. The problem only happens in BGs and goes away when all addons are disabled. TW/SS event last week didn’t trigger this even even once, so it’s not just a case of big battles.

We share these addons: DBM, Gladius, Raider IO, CooldownPulse, GladiatorioSA2, GTFO, HHTD, Pawn, Skada, TellMeWhen

I am not sure completely, but I think I experienced this problem before I started using Skada even with Recount. It was the main reason why I switched actually. I might try Details.

The thing started in Legion, so maybe Raider IO is the root cause, but then why would it not happen in LFR or in world boss raids, or in large scale world PVP?

Wows severs have been downgraded since activisions has been cutting and maximixing profitability. WOW isnt like wow use to be.
