FPS drop with latest patch

My FPS has dropped considerably with the 10.1.7 patch that just dropped today.

Previously, I was sitting between 120-140 in raid environments with settings on 8.

I have a 3090 and a respectable computer/monitor.

With the latest patch, my fps is sitting at about 35 while stationary in Val. Even changing my settings to 1 I’m not breaking 100 fps, and it seems to me like I should reasonably be able to get over 100 fps with my settings at one, but here we are.

Anybody experienced this issue or have any tips?

So far, I’ve tried reverting drivers (no difference, so currently running latest driver), as well as disabling all addons (no difference). Anybody else have any tips for things to try, or experiencing this?

I have i9 4090 and was 4k capped at 144fps.

Since patched FPS has dropped significantly and hovers around 100fps for no apparent reason and stutters and lags.

Same. Sitting stationary in Val getting around 40FPS where I am normally 60-70. Even if I leave Val it floats between 40-50FPS

Since this post yesterday, I tried reinstalling with no success

YES!! I was playing this morning and it seemed okay – I installed and played the patch last night and it seemed okay…

but today?? BOOM, 4 FPS in Valdrakken, just idle. FOUR. FOUR FPS. This game is unplayable.

I have a GTX 3050, 16gb Ram, i7 chip – it’s not great but its been able to run wow on Ultra for almost TWO YEARS. Now this.

WHAT GIVES>!>>?!??!?

I should say that I have done;

Graphics Card Update
BIOS Update
Scan & Repair for WoW
Disabled Windows Graphics Acceleration Scheduling
Deleted all Addons
Deleted WTF Folder

When WoW is running in the background, the FPS ramps up to normal. When I click back to the Window WoW is running in, I see the little “FPS” as 60 – then as it sits open, the FPS drops to 5. Not sure if this is helpful but just trying to give every bit of info.

More information;

I went to Stormwind, to get out of busy Valdrakken – as I was walking from Valdrakken I was having FPS drops and wild peaks - 60 to 10 to 45 to 5 to 65 to 27, etc as I was go to the Stormwind Portal. Then I went to Stormwind, still kinda gross but better. I mounted and flew to Elwynn Forest/Border of Westfall. 60 fps. peaceful and no lag.

SO… WHAT is it? What is the exact deal? Why was I able to be in Valdrakken this morning and today, it’s untenable? Why?

Same here, past two days, dropped from 175 consistently to 58-60. But for me only in Retail, Classic is fine 175fps, COD fine, even ATS is fine at 175.

I should add I have a 11th Gen Intel(R) Core™ i7-11800H @ 2.30GHz

16gb Ram

GTX Nvidia 3050 laptop card

I’m getting extreme lag to the point of windows saying the app has stopped reporting when I log in while my character is located in Valdrakkan.

Characters in other locations are fine.

I don’t know if it is related to Dream Surges or some other in game event. It feels similar to the early issues we had in Dalaran in Northrend.

I’m running a i7-127000KF, with 64Gb RAM, and a 4080 and SSDs - and drop to 0fps for minutes on load in as of last week’s maintenance.

Same I usually run 120fps and since patch I am sitting around 30 and I am seeing glitches in my armor and different areas around Dragon aisles. I am running 3060 12th gen I7 and 16 gb ram. FPS has dropped down to 20 by dream surges.
