So, I’ve noticed that I get major FPS drops in big bg battles, like anytime in Ashran or at the start of IoC for example. So I did some digging to try to find the bottleneck. First I turned all the graphics down to a minimum, which helped a tiny bit but was overall not the issue. Next disabled addons. Again, helped a little but still the issue persisted.
So I ran a resource manager during the peak fps drop times to see what the problem could be:
CPU? Barely hits 50% usage
RAM? overall flat, plenty of extra to use
Disc drive? very minor usage after the initial loading in
GPU? Maybe 60% usage at peak.
But now Data was interesting. At about 400kb/s received, I’d start to see noticeable, steady fps drops. 800kb/s received and I’d be down to 5 fps or so. I can open the internet and do whatever instantly on the other monitor while WoW stutters on the main screen.
So now I don’t know where to go from here. Running an ethernet cord to the router isn’t an option, as I’m using my landlords internet. I’m not even sure it’s an issue on my ISP or router’s end, as my laptop isn’t exactly high end anymore.
I just don’t know what to do.
