FPS capped to monitor refresh rate

My fps seems to be capped at 60, even though I have it set in game to 68 (foreground and background).
When I tab out however, I see it goes up to 68. I can see the fps counter through the transparent windows task bar.

I would like to set the framerate slightly higher than my monitor’s default refresh rate, to take advantage of my G-sync display. There’s a slight overclock capable, and it seems to be about 68, and it doesn’t work if I try to overclock the monitor manually.

Nvidea control panel is set to:
Monitor Technology: G-Sync
Vertical Refresh: Fast

Fast-sync should allow the monitor to boost a bit faster, and drop any excess frames rendered. It does not limit frame rate in-games like v-sync

Make sure in game options has v-sync turned off or disabled. Also make sure your G-sync options in control panel are set to full screen and windowed mode.

Also make sure the setting in Nvidia control panel is set to Prefer Maximum Performance.

Adding on to what Feliciti suggested. This may be limited due to Directx11. What graphics card is on the system? Are you currently using Directx12?
