And my poor dog is scared of the loud noises that my neighors make with their fireworks.
Can we at least have silent fireworks that can explode and make bright lights but not loud sounds, nobody likes suffering animals, especially pets. I enjoy 4th of July as anyone, but can we give our pets a break from this?
With my cat, she is afraid of thunder. She is ok with everything else.
Put loud music on to drown out the noise / make it to where the booms are part of the song.

Have you tried classical conditioning?
Have a plate of delicious meat, then light a small firecracker. When the dog runs and hides give it the plate of delicious meat.
Continue doing this until instead of running and hiding the dog is looking for the plate of delicious meat when a firework goes off.
Reinforce it by giving the dog some delicious meat when people set off loud fireworks in the distance.
