Four hours of gathering on a new transferred toon

Couple of points

  1. I seemed to be getting benefit from dragonflight tools and accessories - particularly in mining.
  2. I was on a druid where you can gather in flight form from the beginning. This is particularly helpful when gathering resources high up that can do the big knockback.
  3. Getting a lot of knowledge points from drops - think this is a beta only thing - so this improves early gathering.
  4. This was a toon I had just transferred - I had a level 80 so I could go to all zones.

This is what I gathered in four hours:-

a) Herbs
187 Mycobloom (10 were rank 2)
57 Blessing blossom (1 rank 2) - mainly isle of dorn
30 Luredrop (2 rank 2) - mainly underground zones
26 Arathor’s spear (2 rank 2) - anywhere but seemed best in ringing deeps
20 orbinid (2 rank 2) - caves and anywhere in azj-kahet

b) Ore
146 Bismuth (5 rank 2)
126 Ironclaw Ore (2 rank 2)
17 Aqirite (1 rank 2) - all from azj-kahet

c) Other rare items (from particular herb/ore types). These rare items are used
in many crafting professions and will be in very high demand early on.
30 crystalline powder
8 leyline residue
10 viridescent spores
2 imperfect null stone
3 writhing sample
1 null lotus (this is an extra spawn from any herb used for making flasks and other crafts)

Also got 13 weavercloth from webbed ore (and herb?)

So :
i) This amount after 4 hours will only get you a very small way in early levelling of professions.
ii) There is likely very high demand for some of the rare materials and some are particularly rare.
iii) Making flasks will be constrained by the low supply of null lotus (though hopefully this improves with increased perception from tools and talents)
