Forums: Too many complaints & not enough ideas ~

I tried making ideas, but the same people shoot it down.

This could get bad quickly though. Because was it actually a verbal assault, or does the person on the receiving end just not like criticism? I don’t think discouraging discussion on a discussion board is a good way to go.

Too many complaints and not enough ideas???

I’ll tell you what, you come up with a good idea to get the devs to actually listen to feedback in a way that doesn’t involve a mass exodus of subscribers, and people will start providing actionable ideas. Until then, the most productive thing people will do with the forums will be to “complain”.

The part that makes people feel ignored is when they post feedback over and over about the same issue in things like PTR and Beta only to have it ignored and released without any change. Then after it’s released it’s still an issue and it will get fixed in a later patch (hopefully).

You know what?

I’m glad I didn’t share any of my best ideas with Blizzard.

Everything that went into that suggestion box ended up more corrupted than a magical girl’s wish.

The time for free ideas is at an end.

Now is the time for new games and game studios.

Fresh blood in new locations.

No more Blizzard nonsense.

Just saying.

Actually, I believe that by eliminating those people who attack others personally, you are encouraging far more constructive discussion on the forums. Criticizing constructively the point is one thing but Calling some on an “idiot” or ridiculing them for expressing a point a view that is directed at the game accomplishes nothing except detracting from the point. A discussion transforms into a whirlwind of insults.

This also deters many people from joining the discussion who perhaps might offer an excellent point of view for fear of being attacked. People have to deal with enough in there daily lives, so participating in a Forum where you are subject to those harsh attacks is completely discouraging.

Moderators who address the “persona attacks”, not the criticism of the Point of view (i can criticize a point of view without making it personal), can warn the user and if the user persists to attack posters then yes ban them… Keep the Forums a place to have open discussions, debates, and constructive, not destructive.

Anyway that’s how i see it.

I hear what you are saying, but even simple complaints can be valuable, people may not have the solution, but enough even just complaints can raise a flag that there is a real problem that needs attention. They pay people a lot of money to develop solutions, and i do agree that we can help the process but offering our own creativity to expedite that process, which i make an effort to do, but again that group that constantly attacks people regardless of how you are trying to help, even when suggesting a potential solution needs to go. What happens is instead of the “idea” being built up the idea and the person gets attacked. quite a deterrent. By eliminating this toxic group, i really think the forums would elevate to a valuable asset for identifying and solving problematic areas of the game.

And I’m not naive, I know how this company works and that they have really disconnected from the user therefore pursuing their own agenda regardless of the players feedback, even in massive majority numbers. But this does’t mean we have to reduce ourselves to that level and wield the forums as a weapon to attack others.

As always, Just my perspective.
