For iPhone or iPad are a usability nightmare.
Works fine on my android phone ![]()
I use the phone. It’s not stellar but far from aggravating.
That’s great.
Unfortunately I find that my 5 other android devices I have sitting in my office are sub par in every other metric of usability. Sadly it’s my job to work on them as a software engineer, so I have to put up with their design flaws.
And to be completely honest I pretty much despise the user experience on all mobile touch devices, but that’s not germane to the topic, which is specifically regarding the forums for iOS.

reads this thread on an iPad with no issues
Sounds like a topic for an iOS review post more than a Blizz problem to me.
So you are fine with having only a quarter of the screen to type and view a message, and having the blizzard menu bar cover a quarter of that?
I tried an iPhone once (borrowed it from one of my buddies to make a call), and the OS seemed rather complicated and user-unfriendly imo - I had no idea how to navigate the thing or what buttons to push, it seemed so alien and unusual ![]()

And of course, those phones cost like $1000+… while on the other hand I have an abundance of choices in the sub-$200 bracket with android phones. Plenty of burner smartphone options as well, I have literally seen android smartphones selling for as little as $20 at the grocery store
Android is simple and you can “just jump right into it” compared to the convoluted iPhone OS
To be honest I never really understood the “hype” behind iPhone and Apple products in general. It seems more like a status symbol/“showing off how much money I have” thing more than anything else.
Kinda reminds me of people buying $9-$10 Starbucks coffees when a basic $1.19 McDonalds coffee does basically the same thing ![]()
The menu bar while editing is a strange UI choice, I agree, but I wouldn’t rank it a nightmare.
(It has been worse in the past when some forum menu options simply didn’t work, so I may be in a forgiving mood)
Apple is the Nike of Electronic Arts.
Mostly garbage but your neighbor got it and you don’t want to look like a poor so you better get it too.
Accessing the forums from my iPhone is the only way I’ve interacted with them, I guess I just don’t know any better.
Are you able to provide screenshot comparisons of how the UI differs between iOS and Android?
/Laughs in Android master race
I find that if I want to reply to a thread on mobile, I can’t really quote anyone or break their posts down to reply to specific lines individually. The entire pop up box for typing just takes the entire screen and I can’t close it without discarding the entire thing.
I have an iPhone due to terrible experiences with 3 android phones. One lasted 2 years then rebooted itself to death, the replacement lasted for 8 months and I was able to get it replaced under warranty for the replacement to die in 3 months and they refused to do anything about it. Been an iPhone user now for 10 years with absolutely no issues whatsoever.
Even their computers are over-hyped/some sort of “look how much money I have” status-symbol
For example, you can buy a solid Windows laptop for $500-$700 and “entry level” starter laptops can be had for around $300 (albeit with slower/crappier specs)… but for similar specs from an Apple laptop you’re looking at like $1200-$1400
Same thing for desktops: you can build a solid Windows-based gaming PC for about $900-$1000, but for similar specs from an Apple it’s probably going to set you back $2000+ because “muh luxury brand” or whatever
Often the specs/power are identical (when comparing a Windows PC to an Apple PC), but the Apple option will cost like twice as much
Because we’re superior! ![]()
I always hated how Iphones tried to monopolize everything, I hated having a lightning cable and I hated having no headphone port.
Glad to see they’re being forced back into the USB standard.
Accurate. They are status symbols. I’d prefer Android any day in terms of functionality.
Skill issue
Could be a PEBCAK.
I tried an i-hone for an extremely short time and hated it. It felt super anti-user friendly. Everything was so counter intuitive. And the phone lasted like 3 months after spending 1k on it. Since then I’ve had 3 androids that lasted multiple years each, are extremely easy to use and 1/4 the cost of an iphone.
Yeah, the thing with Android vs. iPhone is everyone has a unique experience that deters them from one to the other. I don’t believe one is better than the other (same with Xbox vs. PS), I just have had my experiences and made my decision based on that.
I also don’t even upgrade the phone every year, I usually have them for 3-4 years before upgrading. My last upgrade was from a 10 to a 14, and my plan pricing didn’t change at all (it took some negotiating to get some massive discounts). But Canadian phone plans are stupid expensive regardless.
