Forums are limiting my posts because they say I am a new user

I think it’s just a side effect of allowing us to still post as our characters with the new forum tech instead of forcing us to use a singular BNET account to post from like the Overwatch forums.

Everything seems to be character based. If I run out of likes for the day, I can hop onto an alt and get another set and keep giving hearts to posts that I appreciate. I actually like that feature and am very careful not to like something on more than one character, but it certainly has the potential for abuse.

But I have posts on other characters. It is not just 7 posts per account. Just 7 posts on this character. So like I said, treating each character as new is moronic. In essence I could have 10000 posts on my main and make a new character and it treats me like I am new? That is stupid.

Pick a forum main if you care about stats / trust levels. It’s either this or converting the WoW forums to use BTAG, which would make people riot.

These new forums aren’t the same thing as the old forums, we were all “new” not too long ago.

OK, maybe I am missing something but why would people care if they used btag? And the old forums allowed you to post with different characters and it kept track of everything as one account

These forums weren’t developed by them. I don’t know if the old ones were either but either way it’s something different now. I think it’s using ‘Discourse’ or something like that? Probably doesn’t have a way to have that sort of functionality since it’s pretty non-standard.

Also, people just like being able to post from different characters. Some folks do some pseudo-RP stuff, some folks like to post with the character most relevant to the conversation, some like to use alts to post about things they don’t want associated with their main, and ofc trolls don’t often post from their mains if they’re going to be obnoxious enough to get potentially suspended.

There was also the whole Real ID fiasco awhile back, and while BTAG is not in any way the same thing, it would bring back fears of that in this community I think.

I remember the realID thing and that is what caused the change but btag doesn’t have that so that would be a baseless concern. I wonder why they swapped forums anyway
