Absolutely support the plan of using forum avatar names for classic character names. I’ve never been involved in a beta before, do they care how much time you can put in? It would be not very much in my case.

This is true. People are why we can’t have nice things.
Their beta invites tend to be random, and they have no real expectations of anything if you’re lucky enough to get one.

If they were smart they’d give invites to everyone who is a regular on this forum.

Why is “Reserve my name!” the first thing everyone thinks of?
Some people have really common names and think they are important.
Oh man, can you imagine that server. General would consist of people saying “See, they did it this way” “It’s still wrong, and this is a beta, so they have to fix it!”
I mean it was going to happen anyway.
Yeah but it would be distilled, refined, overpowering.
And mixed in with the cure of people telling them they’re wrong or crazy, or wrong and crazy.
Man, I wish that was a cure here. The only cure is Bornakk posting corrections.

Usually they don’t. Depends on what kind of beta. Whether it’s open to everyone or closed for a select few. Also exactly what they want tested.
Do they want the full 1-60 leveling gambit tested? End game raids? Dungeons? Each class’s abilities talents. Procs on gear and a lot more they may want tested. So it kind of depends. Typical open beta I don’t see them caring but I do encourage trying to leave solid feedback on what you test.
I know some folks were saying there really is no need for a beta but honestly everything is on new infrastructure and that alone warrants extensive testing of everything imho.

Wait. What? Where did this come from? No one is trying to reserve names. This is a call for our little regular forum community to use their forum name on the beta. For us to test things together.

While I don’t care as much for the beta, for Classic itself my plan is along the lines of “Reserve 8-9 names”.
Oh, you mean for recognition of each other, not so a privilege of having the name you want because you were on the forums.

Absolutely not. That should be the same mad scramble for that “unique” name that every single game with named toons is at launch. Please point out how you got that from my post i will fix it straightaway!
Really good idea. I plan on using my forum name, and it will be fun to put some virtual faces to the names we have grown accustomed to. Be a nice early way to figure out some of the personalities in game, with an eye towards Classic guildmates!

Possibly I misread this as “we should all get our forum name”, and there have been a lot of posts about reserving names, so mind conjoined them.
Yes. A beta gives us even more opportunities to build this community.
